32 years old. Have had some thinning and receding of my hair. Started noticing it a few years back. Hasn't gotten much worse and if it stayed like it is now I honestly wouldn't be upset up it. Hence why I would like to try finasteride 1 mg a day. Already have it on hand but have not pulled the trigger yet due to worrying about sides and lower dht. I am on self prescribed trt by the way as well.

Few of my concerns.

1. Obviously the sexual and libido sides. I know a small percentage of people say they get it but still worries me.

2. Lowering dht even though you don't have sides can't be good. I just can't comprehend how lowering something like dht besides for your hair and prostate can be beneficial to you as a man. It's what gives us our aggression, our manliness, drive. Lowering it just makes obvious sense that it's not good.

3. Concerns about body and the gym. I've taken dht derivatives I'm the past such as masteron and such to give me that hard less watery look. So by lowering it isn't it gonna make me soft and hold more fat?

4. Fertility and semen. Known to lower sperm count and defects in sperm. You have to come off when conceiving. Currently have baby on way and want more in future so definitely a concern for me. Especially when guys say I got no sides but get ball ache the first week. How could that ever be good!?

Thanks for listening guys just want to hear everyone's thoughts. Thanks!

You can give it a try and stop if sides creep up. But the fact that you are worrying about them already means that you are more likely to experience them.

Not sure about this one because I never really cared so much about getting children.

Thanks for the info. I'm sure a simple Google source will show all the benefits of dht. I know whenever I took masteron or tren which increase dht. I always felt more alpha. Body got leaner and harder. More drive an aggression. Dht is really a great thing sucks we can't just stop it to the hair and keep it in our body.

We can never objectively determine for ourselves to which degree these effects are due to actual physiological changes or due to placebo.

hi all ive been on finasteride for 28 years having hair loss from a young age (strap in this os a long post ) this used with his minoxidil solution all perscribed by Dr Hugh Rushton of Harley st well renowned for his works to do with hair loss and papers written.im now 56 and still got a tonne of hair.Along the way i have had a few blips and panics with additional shedding.Trichodynia being one of those or known as burning scalp syndrome and causing mad shedding/panicking.After visiting 3 local hair specialist all with reputable recommendations i went to see Eva Proudman of the tv hair clinic programme. She showed me my scalp under microscope camera and the issue with it that none of the others picked up. Well worth a visit about £150 and has clinics around the uk that she runs on different days so you should find cliic not to far away.i went to the one in the midlands thats at her house in a sleepy village. Her recommendation were as follows. Hair is made of protein so eat more protein.I have now have diet protein powder shake every day and to wash my hair every day using Tony Maleedy Juniper scalp therapy shampoo its about £15 sounds expensive but u only need a tiny amount so works out cheeper than head snd shoulders say.Within 3 washes my scalp calmed down.I still take a quarter of a tab of finasteride that i get from Rushton and have moved onto minoxidil Max from America that i apply once a day.Its still cheap even though its transatlantic and a weeks delivery time, this has finasteride in it also.Another supplement i use is J and S Health and energy. My hair grows so fast im down to a hair cut every 2.5 weeks.Denisty-is still pretty good but with it being nearly white i use a spray thicknesser in grey and then brown and then rub with tissue it blends it and looks natural.I also have an Igrow laser cap that is to be used every other day but i dont use it as much as i should.
Im finally at peace with my hair after 28 years and more than a bit of a roller coaster.I know i will die with some hair.
I would rather live happy with hair than miserable with out as its a long old time to be miserable.my libido has dropped a bit but for £2 tablet of v**** i think its worth the trade off.I hope some of this info helps someone to solve/deal with it as not everyone can accept it and live with it.My partner calls me the silver fox one thing i never thought i would be 28 years ago.Unstrap yourselves now this post is over, good luck everyone and i hope i have been helpful i know what your going through
