im a 15 year old guy and have been suffering with a receding hairline for about 3 years now.

since someone noticed it at school ive always been self concious about it, but not to the extent i have been in the last year or so.. my situation has dramatically worsened, while my parents still tell me that i was born with it, and looking back i did have a receding hairline when since i was born really, but not to the extent i do now.

could it be that maybe ive just grown into the hairline?, or is it that im suffering from male pattern baldness.. but why at such an early age :/?

recently i have experienced what i see as thinning.. but is it just me overeggsaturating the situation? i did go and see a doctor, whos reffered me back to a specialist for june (although these appointments are frequently cancelled).. my gp told me that it was unusual for someone my age, and also that i probably saw it as worse than it was

my dad is receding, and was from his twenties as far as i know, he tells me he was at my age but i feel as hes only saying it too make me feel better
my grandad was receding until his mid twenties when he suddenly went bald

im very worried about this, and hope that people can give me advice on how bad the situation is and if i can do anything to improve it , thank you!

Yes, you do show a receding hairline.

And I think you're too young to consider finasteride for now. However, if you really, really want to keep your hair, I suggest you do some serious research on topical treatments. With those you will probably be able to halt or slow down greatly your hair loss until you can start finasteride.

Topical treatments you will want to take a look at include: Spironolactone, RU, flutamide, fluridil.

Do something about it, dude. You don't have to go bald. :)

By the way, don't trust too much on dermatologists or GPs. They don't know a lot about hair loss or the wide range of treatments available today. I suggest you do your research yourself online, or with the help of your dad. Also take a look at this forum: http://www.hairlosshelp.com/forums/.

You've been receding since age 12? Damn man, I'm really sorry that you had to start going through this at such a young age. Mine didn't start until 18, and I thought that was early.

Based on the pics (the 3rd and 4th one, especially) you are already at NW3. You are too young for finasteride and minoxidil, but Nizoral 2% might help slow down the male pattern baldness, at least until something stronger can be purchased. Down the road, keep an eye on CB-03-01. It's a topical that is supposedly 2 times stronger than finasteride, has no known side effects, and only needs to be used twice a week. Of course, the jury is still out on that one. Some of us are trying to buy some now to try it out.

Stay around this forum. You're not alone, and it is reassuring to know that other people are experiencing the same worries and problems that you are.

i hope its progressing real slow as it did with my dad (who has not significantly balded, and hes 50 now.. and he was at the most 20 when he began to recede..)
i have really think hair on my crown and everything , its just the hairline.. which looking back on pictures has always been receding.. i just always had it short and i never noticed.
since ive been growing it long my hair seems to be shedding at a really fast pace which im worried about.. and maybe this is contributing to my fear of going suddenly bald.
would there be any chance this is just my natural hairline? or is that out of the question? sounds silly but im going by what my mom says haha

There is always a slim chace it is a maturing hairline but... is it worth risking? Get on spironolactone and minoxidil.

Some people are allergic to minoxidil, keep that in mind and do a small test before applying bigger amounts of it.
