Coping with Female Hair Loss in Her 40s - Zen's Story

Hi everyone,

I always had lots of hair until I hit 45 - now it's getting sparser and sparser, especially on the top of my head. Obviously, this is all more upsetting than I can say - like Cher said, "If I Could Turn Back Time!"

Thanks goodness I have a loving husband who thinks I'm beautiful no matter what, but I would love to have my hair back as it was for my own self-esteem.

I'm tired of hiding under hats, but I'm concerned about side effects with so many treatments. My Dr. recommended Minoxidil, but I am hesitant...

Hoping to find some good information here.

Thanks,

im sorry about your bad luck but wigs are easier for a woman. Men are screwed.

That's not very nice or very helpful is it?

Perhaps Zen doesn't want to wear a wig! no more than you do!

Have a little empathy man!

Zen, I was reluctant to try minoxidil myself but if I am honest it is probably the best thing I ever did. Well that combined with finasteride I understand there is a minoxidil for women but not so sure about women taking Finasteride. I wouldn't know if there are any other side effects that obviously don't affect men?

Good Luck with your research

best of luck, it puts things into perspective for some of us blokes moaning about this, must be much harder for a lady to deal with.
