Could it be Telogen Effluvium?

My teenage daughter began having hair loss just at first on top of her head in a small circle. Since then she has lost a tremendous amount. It grows back, but won't get thick or any longer than a buzz type length. I have taken her to two dermotologist and one thyroid specialist. It's not her thyroid and one dermotoligist said it's called Telogen Effluvium. But he also said it would grow back full. It has been over a year since he said this. My daughter is in high school and I'm worried about what this may be doing to her self-esteme. Has anyone else had anything similar to this?

I had a bout with telogen effluvium at the end of last year. It's usually caused by some kind of traumatic event, but I was diagnosed with it as a result of weight loss. I lost around 60 lbs in a few months. Basically, if you don't get enough protein and other nutrients in your diet, your hair will start falling out. My hair is almost fully restored now, but I had to be sure that my diet included all necessary nutrients and proteins which support hair growth. Check your daughter's diet and make sure she's getting all the right vitamins and proteins.
