Browsing throught the site, I noticed that Propecia users need to use a shampoo product like Nizoral. My question is: where can I find this shampoo? Are there any substitutes?

If you are in the UK you can walk into your local chemist and pick up the 2% version, if you are elsewhere prehaps someone else here can fill you in.

failing that, do a search in google, they're plenty of sites selling it.

Thanks, I'll do that. By the way, that's one extensive routine you have there. :freaked2:

I just did a search and noticed that Nizoral is a dandruff shampoo. Will Head and Shoulders suffice?

Nizoral contains Ketoconazole at either 2% or 1 % depending on which strength you buy.

This active ingredient is said to be a mild DHT inhibitor and thickens the hair shaft.

Most people here 'cycle' Nizoral and another non-ketoconazole anti-dandruff shampoo like T-Gel or head and shoulders.

A typical routine would be Nizoral 2 or 3 times a week and T-Gel/H&S on the remaing days.

As it is, I only wash my hair two or three times a week, because some hair dressers told me it was beneficial to give my hair a rest (we were talking about getting rid of frizzyness.

Should I wash my hair every day? I need some help from experts.

People who have male pattern baldness have higher hormone levels which makes your hair greasy and dirty which leads to sebum buildup. If you have normal hair it is ok to wash it once in a while but hair like ours should be cleaned everyday especialy if you are using topicals. The scalp should be as clean as possible for maximum absorbtion. Also shampooing removes all the excess residue from the topical you use daily, which can clog poors.

I'd recommend using a quality salon product, I prefer Redken and Paul Mitchell.

I don't think anyone can recommend a particular conditioner to you because their hair is different than yours. I'd go to a salon, a good one not Fantastic Sams $5 chop shop, and ask someone there to feel your hair and recommend something for you.

I get my hair cut (the few remaining strands I have!) at a very pricey salon. I do this because the stylist knows how to cut my hair to make it look its best despite a thinning forehead. He knows my hair, and has recommended some excellent products that make my hair look healthier and feel great. But, what works for me might not won't work for you...

Thanks for the reply. I have another question, so please bear with the noob. Does anyone know if Folligen could be purchased at traditional retail outlets? Which ones? FEDEX wants $50 shipping to Canada for one bottle.

Yeah, I know. It's really a hair-raising experience (sorry for the pun).

Does any one purchase Folligen from retail outlets?
