Some biotech companies are researching the use of crispr to battle hair loss, this is one of them and the article says it will be used to suppress the gene that makes the enzyme 5 alpha reductase. Seems like it could work

Suppressing the 5ar will not be a cure unless they can do it only in the scalp. And thats unlikely. You can solve this issue with crispr if u haven't identified the specific gene responsible for the issue they have multiple genetic hits. AR being the biggest one. We shall see. But this sh*t is 20 years out

Maybe.

Crispr gene editing is only 10 years old and here is just what they did last year.

None of those breakthroughs even possible 11 years ago let alone 20.

In other words these things move at a different pace to what we’re used to.

I sure hope so. I am willing to spend up to 100k to keep a full head of thick youthful hair with a youthful hairline with a very minimal non estrogenic side effect profile

Yeah this is kind of what I was getting at. We’ve learned a lot more about dht as a hormone. Not quite the trash hormone we thought it was and 5ar activity is present in a lot of tissue. It’s also possible dht has some “intracrine” activity, a relatively new term that I might not be spelling right.

But Crispr would target only papilla cells of hair follicles and removed DHT from those cells won't do any harm to the rest of the body

This is all still chasing androgyny and I support that but let's not get all blazed up here. That was obviously female type hair because it was nice and fine in texture.
