After 12 years with the same 2 mm buzzcut I decided to see if I still could grow hair. I’m not really sure why, but it’s probably just another way of trying to deny that I’m, to my surprise, getting older. The buzzcut have been very efficient at hiding my very high hairline, my thinning top and my overall non-dense hair – it’s been so efficient that people didn’t think I had any hair at all. Though it’s been very practical. Anyway, I started three months ago with:
  • 50 mg/ml minoxidil
  • Biotin supplements
  • GrowMe Shampoo
There’s roughly two months between the one-month-in-treatment-image (May -21) and the-today-image (July -21) … and I got a haircut in between in June – my first proper haircut since 2007.

The minoxidil is probably contributing the most to the result, but it’s still very thin on the top, but I’ll continue my pursuit of eternal youth. And any input on how to get the top more dense is welcome.

Awesome results be carefull with long term biotin as taking this alone in high dosage can cause side effects. I experience acne and body rash, which is common but can also lead to other serious issues.

Great feedback. Thanks, I’ll be careful with the vitamins.

High dosage biotin is not safe use the google button or YouTube, you body requires 30-50mcg daily. When using high dosage above 1,000mcg you will experience side effects, as people also recommend drinking tons of water. I am not the only one who has experienced side effects with high dosage biotin, as above use google search.

I had a look at the pill jar: I’m currently consuming 50 micrograms of biotin. Every other day.
But I have two different brands of Biotin supplement one with 1 mcg zink and the other with 10 mcg zink … among other differences, but I’d say that the pills with the higher zink content are less good for my skin, but then again it could be something else that differs.

Just to echo this, Biotin can cause havoc with blood test results too.

Month number 4 has just passed since I started growing hair. It is still thin on the top and I’m not sure if I can expect it to improve after month 4? Or if growing the hair longer would be an option or if longer hair makes it look even thinner?

Approaching month seven. I found a new barber – sadly he’s engaging in way more uncomfortable cold talk, but I got a better cut and after that cut I use more wax than before, but it contributes to what I was I looking for; better coverage, some de-aging and a longer f***-you-hairloss-finger.

I wont lose this

Just to make sure since you or nobody else mentioned them. You are aware of finasteride and dutasteride? They help with maintain, thickening, or possibly even regrowth. You've had such great results and those will either maintain or at the very least help maintain.
Thank you for the tips. But I would never gamble with the risks that comes with finasteride – the choice between hair and wood is very easy for me.

365 days has now passed since ‘millimetres of hair’ to some hair. It has been a journey; I’m now wake up everyday with a unwanted mohawk and I’ve developed a new fear of rain. But the really great changes in my life due to more hair are:

  • A four kilo weight loss (could possibly also be more relate to way more running and not be related to minoxidil.)
  • I now own more watches – probably also not related to me having longer hair. But I went from suffering from being bald to suffering from G.A.S. – Gear Acquisition Syndrome. I do love my new watches.
  • I now know a barber addicted to opioids (long story; but he got a new apartment (because of my many haircuts). An apartment with a balcony, which he tried to decorate. While decorating it he hurt his back – he got addicted to opioids and now cuts my hair while high. I need a new barber.
