K so i finally switched from propecia to proscar cause treating my hairloss is really hitting my wallet hard. I just tried splitting my first pills and im finding it really tough. You guys know of any good pill cutters out there.

I bought this one

http://www.natural-hair.co.uk/pillcutter.html?PHPSESSID=c23bf1a082d4fc4e3ff76fa78319e244

But its a total piece of crap. It doesn't split the pills equally, they always break up into little bits.

Does it matter if they are uneven. I mean the ones im managing to cut are all reasonably the same, just some slighty bigger than others.

Also, this may be a stupid question, but is the medication evenly distributed throughout the entire proscar pill. Like concentration wise. Cause if not one quater of the pill could contain more finasteride than another quater of the pill. This all seems really dodgy to me, im thinking i might just throw them away and buy my propecia again. So I know im getting the right amount.

I used an X-acto knife. But I only split mine in half..take 2.5mg a day. Cuz I'm hardcore. I split a few into 4ths, wasn't too tough either.

Its a nightmare to cut isnt it..well cut accurately. Is it easier to cut with a pill splitter? I cut mine into 6ths with a scalpel. Why cant they make proscar tablets bigger and an even shape!!!!!!!

I used a scalpel for a while, but I find it easier to crush to a powder and divide up.

yep, they should make those bastards about the size of a golf ball.

scalpel is the best way. If you cant get one, get an xzacto knife

hold the chunks down and quickly push the knife through.

this way worked for me I could get 7th's or 8th's in pretty equal sizes

It doesent bother me so much that the tablets are small its the uneven shape which is irritating. I think there were purposely designed that way, in order to piss guys off who use Proscar for male pattern baldness.

My Derm told me that the manufacturer specifically makes it harder for you to cut into 5ths because they know this is what people are doing to beat the cost. Thus they make the jagged edges and what not so it is hard to cut into equals.

Yes that sounds right on.

Yes it is even distributed. How could it not be? The pills aren't made one at a time, they are made in huge "vats". Since they are made in "vats", for it to not be evenly distributed, you would have to have pills with no FINASTERIDE instead of sections of the pill. Don't worry about it if the pills are a little bigger than other pieces. It won't affect your treatment.

Here is how to cut Proscar.

click on

"Can't figure out how to cut that Proscar tab into fifths (1mg)? Use this."

It's a pop-up so make sure you turn off your "pop-up blocker" if you have one.

Cutting it is very easy. I cut 3 at a time and it takes me less than a minute to cut all 3. Use a razor blade.

the generic finast I get from dr. reddy's comes in a regular sized pill with a normal pill shape. Pretty easy to cut up.
