I'm going to be ordering Proscar and buying a pill cutter but...

Doesn't exposure to light and air essentially render finasteride useless?

If light does reduce its effectiveness, then just keep it in a dark place. If air reduces its effectiveness, then keep it in an airtight container. Simple as that.

LOL, airtight container is not going to help! there's still AIR in there. The pill comes with the finasteride safely contained inside the pill. After you cut it, the finasteride is now exposed.
Putting it in a jar won't help there.

From what I remember, Propecia even comes in FOIL to keep all light out.

Thinking of just going with Propecia....

I'm using propecia now.
It doesn't come in foil. It's just one of those white plastic child-proof bottles (think Advil), with a couple of moisture-removing capsules inside.

Maybe they changed the packaging...

Just cut up one pill at a time. I've been using 1.25 mg of finasteride for years and it works fine. I keep the remaining pieces in a pill case.
