Has anyone tried or is taking Cyproterone Acetate ?
What is your experience with this anti-androgen ?
Thanks.

I take 2 x 50mg daily, it's a very powerful (and nasty) drug.

I'm going to ask my doctor soon if I can take a low dose because I've read that taking a low dose (even just 2mg) is just as effective, without all the side effects.
I think the nasty side effects are only associated with higher doses.

I agree, if I take 50mg a day I don't experience the side effects (though I also don't get the benefits either).

Be careful if you're planning to travel to the USA and want to take it with you as it's not approved there.

I'm in Canada and they practically throw the cypro in your face here......lol !

I have a question though, I'm lactose intolerant and I noticed that cypro does contain lactose, can they take that out ?
I'm wondering if a compounding pharmacy might be able to make a special preparation.

I also see that it's available in injection form, but it comes in 300mg, which is a crazy high dose....and I don't know if they are able to make it in a very low dose.

I think there are alot of treatments that do work but you have to work with a doctor who is willing to try different forms or different medications until you find what works best.

I know my doctor is going to try and push Spironolactone on me in the next visit, but I went to a hair specialist and he told me to stay far away from spironolactone because most of his female patients have experienced alot of side effects.
Anyway, I hope I find the right treatment soon...crossing my fingers !

For what it's worth, I have mild lactose intolerence too but I don't recall ever having lactose related sides from Androcur.

Good luck finding a formulation which works for you :)

Thanks Gemini :)

I think this is the only anti androgen left that may work for me, I have tried Flutamide and I felt HORRIBLE, and Spironolactone I'm not touching.....the other ones I'm not so sure they work well in women.
