I'm 28 years old and I noticed my receding hairline when I was in college (age 20). It wasn't too bad, but it was definitely visible. Very slow change for the next 8 years. A little recession, but not much.

About 4.5 months ago I noticed that my crown had started to thin very slightly. I panicked and bought some generic Dutas online. I began taking the recommended dosage for BPH right away.

At 3 months my hair really started shedding and I noticed that it looked much, much worse. I started to research and found that this was, in fact, somewhat normal. So, I committed to staying the course.

At about 4 months I was on this site and found out that I didn't need nearly the amount of the drug I was taking. So, I've just tapered it off to a 1x a week dose.

I fear, however, that my prostate is in revolt at the amounts of Dutas I took. After changing the dosage to EOD I began to feel a pain in my testes. Now I am pretty sure that I have prostatitis. I can't imagine that it's bacterial, but it still feels pretty bad.

I'm hoping that the lowered dosage will allow my prostate to recover without having to take any antibiotics.

I saw regrowth on my hairline from the Dutas, but the pain is a real downer.

Any Suggestions?

Yeah, see a doctor so he can do tests on your prostate and give you antibiotics to stop the inflammation. this is very important and you are a young man.

Is any side of your testi's enlarged? Is the epydidimus swollen or tender? I think you have a mere infection and should start doxcyclene or cipro.

Give more info.

Thanks Jayman.

I agree. The pain is what I would call "very mild" and I've only had it for about 3 days, but my research on the subject points to antibiotics as the only real treatment, bacterial or not. Lickily there's no problem urinating, or any burning. Just discomfort when I sit for awhile.

Hopefully, the Doctor won't tell me to stop taking the dutasteride, as I've already dealt with one shed and would like to see the results...
