Hi.

I'm a 22 year old male and i noticed that my hair line started to reced at age 19, but only slightly during 4 years it hasn't really advanced much, it really unnoticeable to everyone the way my hair is.

But like a month and a half ago i noticed that my hair doesn't have the volume it use to have. I thought it was just because of the change of shampoo. But during the coming weeks i noticed it has less and less volume. I went to have it cut like 2 weeks after that and the first thing my barber asked me is where did my hair go. He was shocked it was so thin because he cut it like 3 months before.
I'm shedding like crazy in the shower, i've never in my life have shedded like this. I mean i took a bath and when I got out. The whole tub was filled with hair. I have never seen such a thing. I would go out and come home 10 min later there would be like 10-15 hairs on my collar. Week by week i would notice it getting worse.

Now my hair has gone so thin you can see my scalp in day light. Considering i got my hair cut 3 months before shorter then i have it now and use hair gel to style it i know there is no way it was this thin not even close.

I'm use to fixing my hair all the time. So my hand on instinct goes to a height it has always gone to fix my hair. But now there's nothing there, just air.

During the summer i worked a very physical job 12-13 hours a day for 3 months with no day off. At the 20th of July i got really sick and worked for 10 days with a fever and really bad back pain. I lost like 11-12 pounds during that time and slept every day for 5 to 5. I was in so much pain it broke my psychologically almost on 3 ocassions but somehow i managed to keep working. It sucked...a lot.

Now a month and a half after this my hair started shedding. I have photos i took in the end of august and the start of sept and my hair looks ok, but now it's horrible.
All the hairs have the white bulb at the end, I've read thats another sign of Telogen Effluvium.

So can anyone that has gone through Telogen Effluvium tell me if this is Telogen Effluvium or fast tracked male pattern baldness?

Sides have thinned too and back, back looks ok just by looking at it but when i run my fingers i feel that it went thin too.

I went to my local dermo he said it's male pattern baldness, it's been happening for years. THIS IS NOT the case. He just saw the small recession on the front and said it's male pattern baldness. I went to a hair specialist he said he doesn't think it's male pattern baldness, he ran a test he pulled a lot of hair from the top and back, and said he'll run some test. He said all hairs where in telogen, most of the hairs he pulled from the top and the back.

When i run my hand over my scalp i feel small hairs. I've felt this even when i had a full head of hair, because my hand would often be in my hair fixing it.

Any way this thing crushed me. It happened so fast. i hope i recover.

The shedding seams to have calmed down. It's still shedding some days worse than others but nothing like before.

I had some blood work done, all of it is ok. I'm gonna go next week for a full check up.

Intrersting thing the thinning is all over. There is no place more thin than another. The hair line has not receded at all. It has thinned the same as the rest of the scalp.

Anyone gone through Telogen Effluvium and recovered here. Anyone has any advice. I would really appreciate it. This happened so fast such a drastic change i get so stressed out when i look at myself in the mirror.
