Just saw my derm two hours ago. I definitely had those symptoms and told my derm that I thought were precursors to shed.

He agreed and told me that a burning scalp (inflammation) triggers hair shed.

Since I've started minoxidil my scalp is no longer red

I think it could be a lot of things. It could be hormonal and be caused by androgens. Dandruff and male pattern baldness are much more common in men than in women.
I have a lot of these same things, but I think you should address male pattern baldness separately from the others. Its very common in guys with male pattern baldness to have the itch and tingling sensation though. No one knows why if its immune response or what

Dunno about "TRIGGERS" shed, but damn it, i remember those burning sessions associated with aggressive sheds.

Me too. Scrapping my scalp with a pen because it's so damn itchy in very precise spots and I don't want to use my fingers because my hair would get so damn oily. There is definitely some type of connection between oiliness, itchiness and red scalp. I am also sure that this triggers shedding to same extent (my derm thinks that and he's a hairloss specialist)

I've realized that some shampoos especially conditionnera directly affects this. I recommend regenepure conditionner as It does not seem to make my hair oily the day after (and ends itchy). I'm sure there are other conditionners like that but don't use those massive brand ones like L'Oréal and such

I've had itchy scalp with tingling feelings and sometimes burning too for years and I have (knock knock on woods) and thank God no hairloss. Some small recession but no thinning.

I have naturally very oily scalp, my little brother has the same...and it could be reason for some tingling or itchyness. It's important to use the right shampoo for your hairtype and scull sensitivity.

I would try finasteride or an anti androgen like RU. I think dandruff, seb derm, and male pattern baldness are all much more common in men because its a hormone driven condition in most cases just like acne.
Shampoos wont cure the problem, but honestly nothing probably will just learn to live with it. A lot of conditions the treatment is worse then the disease.
