Hi guys,

there was a thread recently regarding red-eyes due to minoxidil...

My friends recently commented that my eyes look very tired. I am aware that minoxidil gives me dark circles around my eyes and makes my eyes look like I've been up for 30 hours.

I was wondering if any of you are using any medication to cure this particular problem. I looked at boots website and there are lots of creams for dark circles. Is there anything in particular you recommend?

I read that cold used tea bags are great for reducing dark circles / baggy eyes, its the thialin (probably not spelt right) that is the active ingredient.

I use LOreal Men Expert dark circle / tired eye cream, but I wouldn't rate it.

As silly as it sounds I would look at womens treatments for skin etc

I get these dark circles whenever I go on finasteride. I am going to see a doctor soon, I guess the only thing I can do is use topical DHT on my eyes, or just live with them, one comforting fact is when i jump of finasteride my eyes get back to normal after a few weeks, so although they are dark now at least I know they have he potential to be healed.

Well.. I'm on the finasteride as well, but I thought the real culprit was minoxidil?

I'll go to my local pharmacy and ask the shop assistant to recommend me something. I might cut down my minoxidil application to once a day just to see if it has an effect. I don't really want to quit minoxidil right now, I'll just cut down as an experiment.

Yes when women go ont he pill for instance which raises oestrogen this occurs. Though when I saw my dermatologist last year she stated that these dark circles were not the same as the circles which would appear due to increased oestrogen so I assume its increased DHT. The question though still remains - how do we combat this side effect without quitting finasteride? Perhaps topical DHT?
