Ok... Can anybody out there share any stories about dating or relationship experiences?

Are you dating? If so, how do you tell a guy about your hair thinning? And when do you mention it?

Do you wear a wig? If so, does it hinder your ability to attact a partner?

I'm not at that point where I need a wig but I might. Uggghhhh. What am I gonna do. Can a man be into a you if you've got hair issues?

JEEZ that's a hard one to answer since I'm such a cynic about the whole male/female thing anyway.
However, I don't say much about the hair thinning issue until I get to know someone well. (this applies to anyone not just someone i'm dating. I tend to use cover-up products to make the thinning less noticeable. So most people can tell I don't have thick hair but they can't tell how bad it really is!)
As far as can a guy be into you if you have hair issues: yes.
A older female friend of mine has had extremely thin hair since her teen years and is now completely bald and wears wigs and she has never lacked for male companionship.
There are men out there who just won't care if your hair is thin or if you wear wigs!
Good luck and try to keep your spirits up!

I'm about to get a wig. And yes, whilst I'm not seeing anyone at the moment, it had better not hinder my ability to attract someone because I'm not going to be signing up for lifelong celibacy. Would I tell the guy I was seeing that I was wearing a wig? Very probably, though obviously not on the first date. And if he decided he didn't want to see me after that (as would be his right), as a parting shot I'd tell him that what he lacked in size he more than made up for in speed. Or something...

Dating..My Secret

Hi VaGirl

My thing is, if I have known a guy for awhile, and I feel comfortable around him, then I will just tell him straight up.

If we just met, and I dont know him that well, then I wont say a word, and I hide all the hair loss products when I have my guy friends visit.

A guy that I have been dating for a few months now, knows that I have a hair loss problem, only because I got tired of hearing him make fun of people who were going bald!!!!!!

He was actually making fun of one of his friends, saying he was going bald. The first few times I just ignored it. Then finally I freaked and said "will you shut the hell up!!! You have NO IDEA how painful losing your hair can be!!!!" He turned to me and asked "Who are you defending?" So, I let him have it. I told him that I was losing my hair, and the long story behind it.

I figured if he doesnt call me anymore, then I know he wasnt really my friend to begin with. Fortunately, I was wrong, and he still calls me daily and is now careful of the hairloss remarks.

So in my case, I usually feel better when the truth can be shared.

Hope this helps
Jenn

hi jenn!

Hey Jenn,

I just wanted to pop on and say hello! I'm glad things are going well with the boy. My thing I was telling you about looks less promising than I'd hoped, but I don't think my hair has anything to do with it--it's all me. Even though I'm completely hung up about my hair, I suppose I can still let the importance of appearance get to me. Let's just say that dude's looks weren't everything I hoped. Oh well. I know, beggars can't be choosers, but I can't control who I'm attracted to, can I?

As for fessing up about my hair problems, I have an online journal, and I complain about my hair on it all the time. Since the internet and physical worlds merge a lot for me, I would guess that most people who know me know about my hair situation. I figure it's best to get these things out in the open, so no one is surprised. I'm not one to wear a padded bra or face powder, etc, so I figure I will probably not hide my hairpiece from anyone who's interested in getting to know me better.

Well, that's my $0.02!
