Denying use of Propecia to enter clinical trials

Some questions:

1) What would happen if you simply lied and said you were not on propecia so that you could be a candidate for clinical trials of a new hair loss treatment? If they make you sign something that states this contractually, couldn't you just take generic finasteride, so that technically you aren't really lying?

2) How would they find out? Do they administer blood tests and check for finasteride?

The catch-22 about hair loss studies, vs. studies that search for a cure to a medical condition (rather than "disorder") is that the people who are most willing to participate are already on a treatment like propecia, and aren't willing to quit.
