Since starting a course of Arimidex about a week ago to offset the gyno caused by dutasteride, I've noticed that:

- I feel very down about things
- I am avoiding social contact, preferring to shut myself away in my room
- I am more easily annoyed
- I am constantly tired
- I find it hard to concentrate on things
- I feel slightly nauseous.

I don't think this is a normal side effect of Arimidex. Is there a possible interaction with the dutasteride going on here? I understand that I have clobbered both my DHT and Estrogen levels now so maybe that explains it?

Any input welcome :)

dutasteride might have mood-altering properties, because of its inhibition of neurosteroids. However, I don't believe that the psychological effects of dutasteride or other 5ARIs have ever been studied systematically in humans.

These sides are sort of annoying lol.

They only started since I started using the AI. So I can't see it being related to dutasteride on its own.

I'm going onto AIFM soon, but will carry on using the Arimidex until it arrives.

It's your choice but i really hope you do seriously give it some thought. Are you willing to continue to *POSSiBLY* feel this way in order to 'save' your hair? You're taking some pretty powerfull sh*t man. I'd reconsider or at the VERY LEAST get a complete bloodwork done. Dont f*** yourself up and regret it later.

It's also f*****g up your very existence. This should go without saying, but self-prescribing this cocktail is about as dumb as it gets.....seriously man, you are throwing the dice. What are you thinking?

I've had a good long think about it and am reminded of that old children's story about the old lady who swallowed a fly:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/There_Was_ ... owed_a_Fly

I've decided that I'm coming off dutasteride for good and that I will taper off the aromatase inhibitors once the gyno has gone and do a couple of weeks low dose tamoxifen to make sure it doesn't come back.

After that, I might go back onto finasteride. Will start with 0.5mg/day for a couple of months and see where I go from there.

Anyone in the UK wanna buy some dutasteride? 30p a capsule? :)
