Just bought a derma roller 0.5mm after months of contemplation. Going to go for absorption and have my scalp get used to it, then work my way up to 1.0mm and 1.5mm wounding if I can handle it.

Started Minoxidil 3.5 months ago- no changes as of yet
Been on finasteride 1mg ED for 2 years.
Started dutasteride 0.5g once weekly 1 month ago
- no changes as of yet (slight head change day of taking)
Nizoral 1% 1-3 times weekly for 1 year.

Link below is my story (Hair is almost the same on the photos I attached except I feel my hairline has thinned slightly and crown has improved slightly)

I get the roller in a week or so. I'll post new photos the first day and we shall journey this shiz.

the Indian derma-roller/minoxidil experiment was probably the 1st 'mini' breakthrough in hair-loss since minoxidil and Proscar themselves. Those pics are hard to deny, and it was done in a controlled manner with no outside influence that had a vested interest. Just plain 'ol science. Now the controversy is whether it provides simply better absorption for the minoxidil or actually does something on its own. I think I read a (disappointing) study that said derma-rolling on it's own did nothing, so the 'wounding' theory may not be the mechanism. So that leads me to wonder if the idea of the long session (I think the Indian study mentioned 20 minutes) once a week to allow healing is not as good as doing it for a few minutes, gently, after nearly every application. If absorption is the key to minoxidil success, you'd want to bring that into play as much as possible. Then again, if wounding allows minoxidil to more dramatically benefit a follicle, it might result in a better hair. Probably will never know since no $$$ is at stake.

I'm willing to bet money that the wounding itself plays the big role. After all, it was only done once a week and no topicals were applied for 2 hours afterwards. I believe the breakthrough everyone is waiting on (follica) has a big dependence on wounding and a "special topical" they apply.

I've been rolling every night, immediately following with 2ml of minoxidil. I apply slight pressure. Scalp gets slightly red, but my crown is where it gets really red. I'm wondering if it's because there is slight inflammation and it's agitating it? I apply the same pressure all over.
