Dermapen not penetrating as deep as dermaroller?

I've been using a dermapen and dermaroller for about 3 months now.

The thing I've noticed is that my pen (DrPen A6S) doesn't penetrate as well as my roller. I did record a slow motion video and it does go back and forth as it's supposed to, but for some reason when the needles punch my skin I don't feel anything. I even went as deep as 2mm but I barely bled. It's like when the needles touch my skin they bounce back. However, I bled much more with the 1.5mm roller, and with the roller I felt like the needles actually poke in my skin.

I'm not sure if I'm the only one who feels this way though.

Puncture wounding is the mode of action in which regrowth is achieved via dermarolling/microneedling. I suspect this is the main reason why some are successful while others are not. If you understood the science behind it and how it works you’ll realize this is method is not a one-glove-fits-all type of treatment. The common denominator I notice in most who do not see results through puncturing their scalp is that they do not wound properly.

If you feel the difference in puncturing go with the method that provides better puncturing for optimal results.

The underlining disease, male pattern baldness, still exists. You’ll have to continue to use the same method to maintain any gains made through that method. What you may be able to do is decrease the time interval between each session; i.e., if you were dermarolling one time every 7 days, you may be able to stretch it out to one time every 10 days.

I experience the same as the op.
I feel the pen beats up the tissue with little penetration. The dermaroller causes pricks of blood without beating up the tissue.

Exactly man. It feels like my skin was beat up instead of punctured/stung.
