anyone know of any alternative dermatch brands? preferably cheaper

I want to add some paste to my nanofibres. I don't think the fibres by themselves cover adequately any more

I used to use a Dermmatch/fiber combination.
You could try Prothik if you don't mind the mess. Though on the site they make you buy two cans of it so it is not that much cheaper than Dermmatch.
But Dermmatch isn't that expensive if you think about how long a cannister of it will last. I've had mine for years, though I don't use it anymore, but I did use it quite extensively and it lasts a long time.

Im on my first disk approaching 3/ half months and its almost finished. I use it around my front area where im mainly thinning a little yet still i cant see how ppl claim it lasts 8 months or in your case years. Still, i find it cost effective even at every 4 months and it does a good job.

How often do you use it?
If you use it daily(or use more than you need), then yeah, it won't last as long. But then, no concealer will last very long if you use daily. Most might not even last a month, so I think 3 1/2 months is pretty good in that case.
I used to keep mine on for a week, or even more sometimes.

won't it come off if you wash your hair?

I see that nanogen do their own version: Aquamatch, which comes in a large pencil shape!

I know fibres are supposed be electrostatically charged, but I'm wondering if my fibres have lost their charge. They don't seem to stay on very well, especially if it's windy or I wear a hood/hat

Dermmatch was probably the toughest to get out when washing my hair.

As for fibers being "electrostatically charged", I think most of that is bunk. Even if they do have some sort of "charge" when coming out of the cannister, it's not going to last very long anyway. That's why hairspray(a light misting before you sprinkle the fibers on, and then more after) is a must for fibers.

yeah I've often wondered about the 'electrostatically charged' claims. Do they really work like that and how do they charge the fibres up in the first place?

Do you find a hairspray works as well as the locking mist they sell specifically for the fibres? Hairsprays are a hell of a lot cheaper

I bought the locking mist from Toppik just to try it out, and while it smells better than my hairspray I am using now, I don't know that it holds the fibers on better than regular hairspray. It doesn't do much for holding the hair I can tell you that, so you are probably going to have to use hairspray anyway(if your hairloss is like mine). That, and I don't like the "pump" kind of bottle that it comes in, as it doesn't allow much control over how much you put on. If you don't want to use as much on a certain section of your head and try pushing it lighter, it will tend to sputter, and you will end up with more on your face than your hair.

In case you would like to know, I am using Nexxus Maxximum Superior Hold Finishing Mist. You can get it at Walmart for $10. I know that is a lot for hairspray but I like it because it doesn't build up as fast as others I have tried; it has a good hold; it is easier to comb through(some of those hairsprays are almost impossible to comb through without ripping my hair out after even just one application) if I need to later; and the nozzle is more pressure sensitive, which lets you have more control about how much product you are putting on.
Of course, that is the best one I have found, so far. If anyone knows of a better hairspray(for a tight budget) I would like to try it.

I use it daily and your probably right as to why its lasted me half the time as stated by derm. Like i said tho, i aint really complaining since it still works out to be pretty cheap overall.

I originally was introduced to the Aquamatch pencil and was told by the person who sold it to me that its the same thing but i can tell ya its not (chalk n cheese). The pencil only coats your scalp, does a good job at that but derm definitely adds thickness to your hair. Furthermore, applying the pencil was very harsh on my hair due to the daily rubbing it in...eventually, i found my hair with thinning in those areas. I was given 2 pencils for the price of one derm stick and derm is definitely the most economic of the 2.

It comes off with ease when shampoo is applied, but can leave ur shower walls a little messy.

Hi there!

I've found two cheaper alternatives to Dermmatch, which are dermmatch clones:

- Maxiderm - unfortunately difficult to find at the moment

- Hairmate - http://www.hairmate.com.au/ - much cheaper than dermmatch. I've ordered twice from them. The product is very similar to dermmatch.

Hope I've helped!
