DermMatch Help please

I tried Derm for the first time yesterday. Med Brown, actually made my hair too reddy, I'm not dark brown, and that will probably be too dark.

As the product did nothing for me apart from give my scalp a shiny brown look, I am at a loss to see what all the fuss is about with this product. I just don't get it at all. I can go over my crown with this stuff and it looks awful!! At the end of the day, how they can say it's better than the fibres on their site is a complete mystery to me.

Because all the fibres come off on my pillow(with John Frieda's Extra Strength £6 glue!!), without exception, I thought it would be a good base coat. It ain't.

Very disappointed with this stuff. What am I doing wrong? Saw the thread from that other site that was posted on here a while back, but that guy had a hair transplant to help along the way

i dont know how much hair you have but i use dermmatch this way:

i use only a very very slighty damp applicator und apply it the way its applied in their commercial. check youtube for dermmatch. the first result is an infomercial. keep it an inch away from the hairline. use a dry applictator to apply some close to the hairline, but dont go ape**** on it or youll get busted. i have to tell you though, you HAVE to have some hair to work with, because dermmatch only takes off the contrast between the scalp and your hair. it does not thicken the hair in any way. ive been caught in the rain with it and NOTHING came off. i showered with it, and the water didnt turn dark until i added shampoo. so its pretty solid. but whether or not you could use it as a stand alone product depends on where youre thinning and how. my problem is im thining in the front, so dermmatch cannot be used as a stand alone. i need something to additionally thicken up my hair, and so far none of the concealers could do it. if you have thinning on top of your hair, the vertex or so, but if you have a good solid hairline, dermmatch should be very good as a standalone.

Thanks for your reply. I don't get this stuff really, it does show through, and give the shiny head look a bit too much, whereas fibres alone, don't usually. They look crap after you've slept on them though, but better.

The inch behind hairline, I don't get either. What about the inch in front, that just stays untouched and thin, you say you use a little dry on that part, how much do you use fibres?

P.S. My hair is thinning in a lousy way, but the before and afters on their site, some are worse than I am, and that's where I think a bit of trickery is involved, There are some big old patches they cover up with what looks like fibres as well?

Yeh thanks, I've seen that before, For the life of me I still don't know how he gets such good results. A decent hair transplant by the look of it, and probably more hair on the crown than I have.....

I have tried Dermatch several times over the years and have used it by itself and with fibers applied on top.

I believe you have to have plenty of vellus hairs to work with to grab the product. If you dont have a lot of hair to disguise it you may as well be paiting your scalp. It just looks smooth and shiny.

I have light brown hair...I believe the darker you hair the better it looks.

Since you already have it you might consider a dusting of a fiber product on top of the dermatch to make it look more natural. The only reason I used both is due to the fiber alone rubbing off and revealing my scalp after sleeping.

Now I just stick with toppik and hope for the best.

How has just using Toppik worked out for you, are you getting away with it on it's own not rubbing off?

I had the issue with Toppik rubbing off when applied by itself and revealing my scalp but hey..it's kinda like choose your poison using concealers..nothing is perfect. I moved from toppik to another fiber brand and also switched to a new hair spray someone on here suggested and I'm as happy as I've ever been now using fibers alone. The fibers stay in my hair really well overnight..especially if I leave them in for a few days in a row.

Concealers are fairly cheap but I've spent a crapload of money on them over the years trying to figure out whats best for me. 10 years later I think I finally have it dialed in.
