Hi everyone. I'm a 20 year old college student, and first noticed my hair loss in high school, probably around the age of 17. I am by no means bald, but my hair is receding and thinning to the point where it is impacting my daily confidence. I have medium length "surfer hair" and I'm trying to hold on to it as long as possible... I like how it looks and I have success with women, but hair loss is greatly impacting my confidence and social skills.

Last summer, I became desperate and visited a hair specialist in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. Jerry Cooley. He shared some interesting information with me that I wasn't aware of before.

For example, there is no reason to take Rogaine twice a day, as studies have shown that peak effect for minoxidil doesn't occur until 24 hours after it has been absorbed. Same goes for finasteride, as peak effect of 1 MG takes place 72 hours after absorption, so one should take finasteride every three days.

I've been taking my hair loss more seriously since my visit, and I wanted to list my regimen here and get some feedback from everyone else. Please share your own regimens and let me know how they're working for you. We're all in this together!

------------------------------------------------------

Rogaine 5% liquid combined with .5mm Dermaroller (once a day)
Proscar 5mg pill cut into fourths, take one on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (proscar=finasteride)
2000mg of MSM daily (should I be taking more?)
Alternating Regenepure NT and DR shampoo daily, leave in hair for duration of shower
-Regenepure DR contains ketoconazole, which is said to be a proven ingredient for fighting hair loss
Coconut and Rosemary Oil mix twice a week, leave in hair for 30 minutes (recently began this)

------------------------------------------------------

I believe this regimen has slowed my hair loss, but not stopped it. The goal in my opinion is to find a regimen that will completely stabilize my hair loss, so that one day I can receive a hair transplant without further worry of more hair loss.

Thank you guys for reading this. Please share your thoughts on my regimen, and share your own regimens and success stories as well.

Have you considered getting PRP injections or using LED light therapy?

The f***?
Even if "peak effect" takes place 72 hours after dosing, you'd still need to take it daily to remain at a steady "peak" concentration... Otherwise, if what your doctor suggested is true, which it isn't, you'd just be on a hormonal roller coaster, taking another dose once your concentration has "peaked", then having to wait 72 more hours for the "peak effect" again, while your serum levels of dht rise back up. Serum DHT concentration is reduced by 65% 24 hours after medicating and the half life of the drug is only seven hours. You need to keep the drug in your system for it to have the desired inhibition of dht, as the inhibition degrades in a linear fashion after you stop taking it.

Your doctor is an idiot.

minoxidil is fine once a day, but it isn't because "peak effect" take place after 24 hours, it's because the half life for minoxidil is 22 hours, so you still have sufficient scalp concentration for roughly a day after you apply it.
