DHI - UK views?

Hi,
I'm new to the group and taking a quick look couldn't see any threads about DHI (if there is one I apologise).

I was just wondering what is the opinion of the group on DHI and its reputation re FUE.

http://www.dhi.gr/english/

I have a thinning area on my crown that I'd like to get filled out - not too keen on strip as I'd like to keep surgical intrusion to a minimum if possible.

Any views/experience on DHI welcomed

Hi Jedd
I am also new to this forum, i also live in the U.K and have recently been thinking about booking a consultation with the DHI clinic in Harley street, i know people say that the best place is in Greece but to travel to Greece is not really an option for me, i would be interested to know if you have visited these people or any other surgeon in the UK. I have heared of other sugeons in this country, namely some guy in Stratford called Rogers a chap in Manchester called Farjo and somebody by the name of May in London, do you or anybody else have any details, phone No's addresses etc of any of these people ? and more inportantly would any body recomend any of these sugeons ?

DHI - UK

Hi swervy,
Thanks for the email. I've been looking into getting some transplant work done for about a year or so. In that time I've collected info from a lot of companies. I've been on Finasteride for seven years and it's been great at stopping further loss and hair condition is much better.

The problem for me is a thinned area around my crown that I want filled. I'm not really keen on strip surgery as I feel it's a bit too much for me. That said it's well proven and has lots of supporters. As far as I am aware May in London, Farjo and most others only do the strip procedure (if this is wrong please let me know).

As I am keener to do FUE it looks as though only DHI and Rogers currently offer this procedure in the UK. Rogers seems to be well thought of and has some celebrity clients, DHI look a big organisation and hold regular seminars in London. Like you Greece isn't really an option for me and DHI have told me that they do the procedure in the UK but it's more expensive.

As for recommendations I can't help you with that yet and would be interested in any comments from members. For me the choice looks like being either Rogers or DHI.

I can get you contact details for all these people - just let me know. My intention is to get something done in the Spring, work permitting.

swervy and jedd, I would recommend asking if you can speak to your chosen clinics' previous patients to get an unbiased opinion, I am sure that many previous patients would be more than willing to discuss their experience with you.

good luck to both of you.

Ineed to know about the sugeon who works for DHI in the London clinic, it seems to be a new venture for the group, although the reports seem to be good about DHI as a whole, surley they would not risk there reputation in the UK with an inexperienced surgeon ?any body know of somebody having FUE in London with there surgeon ?

Tynan/Swervy
That's a good point Tynan DHI say they will provide a list of patients to contact. Whether there are any with experience of UK surgery I don't know.

As to the surgeon Swervy - I have asked DHI in a couple of emails the name etc of the surgeon who would be doing any UK treatment. They have not given me a name as yet.

I would have thought for an organisation as large as DHI appears and doing as many procedures that there would be more posts from guys getting this procedure done in the UK?

Yes, Tynan is spot on in that the only true indicator of a physician's work is through speaking with prior patients. However something to consider in doing so:

1) Make sure the transplant is mature. In that, I mean to make sure that the patient is at least 12 months post op and has adequate pre-op pictures to show you. You will not get the full story otherwise.

2) A physician will only refer you to the best of the best of his or her clients. While you cannot blame them for this practice, try to find some of their previous patients that post on the forums that are not recommended. While this may sound like searching for a needle in a haystck, there is enough info out there on DHI that should warrant some results on your search.

3) Be sure that you speak to former patients of the doctor that will actually perform YOUR procedure. Not just former patients of the clinic.

Best of luck in your search.

Pics estimate

Just to let those interested know. DHI asked me for photos of my crown to estimate work needed - I sent photos. I have also emailed them twice to ask what their estimate is but have had no reply. I do continue to get their seminar mailings without fail - but I am getting very tired of teasing out information from them. I'd expect more from a big company - I'm not asking for unusual info here just who's doing the procedure, what's their track record and a quick look at my photos. Perhaps I'm being unreasonable? Has anyone had FUE with Dr Rogers and how have they found it?

Hi, I very recently had my first FUE session with Dr Rogers in Stratford. I can't believe how easy it was (for me) . I definately do not want a strip scar so FUE was my one option. I picked Dr Rogers because he was by far the most genuine surgeon I met. He runs a small practice & is hands on all the time. Dr Rogers and his nurse/hair tech removed the donor grafts together & then she left & Dr Rogers made the recipient area and placed every graft. He only does one surgery a day . My donor was practically healed in a few days. Not one headache & the day after it felt like I'd had nothing done. If only I'd known how easy it was earlier.

Rogers had years of experience of placing transplanted hair before he took on FUE & now he has learned a lot from the top Drs abroad.

I also met with Dr Cole from USA , fantastic Dr but how big headed

On the subject of DHI , I briefly looked into them but was not at all convinced. They seem to be run by salesmen & apparently the surgeons they use had never done a hair transplant before they went into FUE , which wasn't THAT long ago. They did some huge sessions some months back with the intention of showing regular updates but the few photos I've seen have been very poor I'm afraid . Thousands of grafts & over six months later no sign of anything coming through. In fact none of them seem to be growing very well.

I'm very very pleased I finally made the choice I did. I need two more sessions & I'm done.

The best thing to do is to have a consultation with whichever Drs you are considering. It straightens out a lot of things in your head.

Hey Whiskey,

Any pictures? Glad that you're so pleased! What sort of damage was there to your donor site? Just irritation? I know there isn't a scar. And, forgive me for not knowing, but how are the follicular units removed if not by incision? Thanks.

Hey Jedd,

I recently went to DHI and they were absolutely fantastic... I had my temples filled in and what a great result! 7 hours in the chair but completely painless.

If you chose them you are making a great choice, I spoke to Laykur and also Lorraine in greece, my procedure was carried out in harley street though.

Pm me if you want to speak to me and i'll give you my number

How recently did you go? Have your grafts fully grown out yet? If not, how do you know it's a great result?

Do a key word search on DHI on the other three major forums which are HairlossHelp, Hairsite, and hairtranspIantnetwork Also do a search on the word PeterMac who recently worked at DHI. Read as many posts as you can find. Judge for yourself.

At three weeks the hair grafts are still falling out after the procedure. They are not growing. The grafts usually start growing at around three months+. They didn't tell you that?
