Figured I'd post and add this to the myriad of data on this forum. I've been on 1mg oral Finasteride since 2012 and recently switched to .5mg Dutasteride (Avodart - Philippines) in March. I'm at the 6 month mark and figured I'd report my results. I'm a diffuse thinner since 22-23 years old (currently 32)
Initially about 1-2 months in, I noticed some growth and overall healthy hair. At the 3 month mark, I stopped using topical 5% minoxidil thinking that Dutasteride had me covered. At 6 months, I've lost good overall density in my weak spots and my hairline has taken a hit. I assume this is because of taking Minoxidil out of my regime, I've always had fair results since starting Minoxidil.
Blood test results:
My Value - 58.1 pg/mL
Average Value - 106.0 - 719.0 pg/mL
I did this blood test strictly to see if Dutasteride was effective in reducing my overall DHT.
I'm assuming that my follicles are extremely sensitive to DHT. Since my initial start on Finasteride, I've never noticed spectacular results. I couldn't tell if it was working to halt or slow down the loss, let alone help with recovery).
As of one month ago I've gotten back on 5% Minoxidil twice a day, soon to switch to 15% at night, 5% in the morning. Considering topical Finasteride at this point. Any comments, positive or negative, are welcome.
