Diffuse balding is the worst

I don't care what anyone says, it sucks having diffuse...your hair has 0 volume so you cant do the crazy spiked look, and you can't grow it long cuz again it has 0 volume...and although I have a perfect hairline f*** IT cuz my forehead is bigger than normal so even though I dont have 1 there is the illusion of me having a receding hairline.

I agree in some ways...

I think diffuse thinning is worst for yourself because you never quite know how bad it's getting. Is it getting thinner, are treatments working? looks good in this mirror, looks bad in that one.

With just recession, you can actually measure how far it's gotten.

That being said, while diffuse thinning is a b**ch psychologically, it looks okay to everyone else until you get VERY far down the line and it goes completely transparent.

what an idiotic thread. balding is bad, diffuse balding is no worse than receding. they both suck. if one was going to rate the relative suckiness of baldness the only measure you could use would be how aggressive it was. for example, you b**ch about having thin hair but a perfect hairline, i know a guy who was norwood 5 by the time he turned 17. you think your worse off than him? quit the whiney crap.

Yeah, I knew someone from high school who was Norwood 5 and is a Norwood 6 now. Just remember, when you think your life is bad, someone has it worse than you.

I managed to keep my hairline the same and I'm thinning all around. But I've been seeing more dark hairs on my hairline.

I think it depends on how long you have been losing it and how old you are. In some cases, especially in older men, diffuse thinning looks better. Look at Clint Eastwood, he has pretty bad diffuse thinning, but his hair looks decent.

If you are young, a thick NW2 or NW3 looks much better than a badly thinned out NW1.

Untrue. Diffuse thinners have it WAY worse, If I had my Norwood minus the dissue thinng I would not give a sh*t. Diffuse trumps reeceding (anything past a Norwood 3, it becomes even). One sucks, the other sucks more.

Diffuse you can hide with Couvre or other cover up.....much better type of balding.

But diffuse leads to large scale slick baldness whereas recession stops and leaves you with a good amount of hair on your head still.

Well if there's one thing diffuse thinners have that makes them better than the receders, it's the fact that they are more photogenic... well imo they are.

In photos, if the lighting is normal and you have a good hairline, it will automatically look like you're not balding. No such luck with guys with receding hairlines though. Those photos will just magnify that shiny big forehead we got.

But for the most part I agree with some of the ppl here. It just depends on how far down the line you are in terms of baldness, whether it be diffuse thinners or receders.

Well either way I f*cken hate my crown thinning.

What, on the Norwood scale, do you call people like me anyway?

I don't look like any of the pictures, I have a perfect Norwood 0 hairline, good coverage everywhere except for my crown which is thinning quite noticeably?!?

Oh well - I can't really complain - the Big 3 have helped me maintain for 3.5 years so far and not one person has noticed yet... Although that may actually be the advantage of being 6' 2"!

i'd bet that the same people who are going on about how diffuse thinning is the worst kind of hairloss, would be bitching about how their kind of hairloss is the worst if they were diffuse, receding, whatever. its just out and out self pity.

So diffuse thining is hair that is really thinning but it's there in the scalp. Right?

Right, the hair on the top of the scalp all thins out at more or less the same rate.

All balding is bad, but to be fair I would rather have a slightly receded hairline at the temples or just a bald spot on the crown than be thinning all over like I am.
