Hey People

Long time obsessive lurker, and kinda 1st time poster..first thread that is:)
Im 38, and have diffused thinning. No completely bald spots... yet, and you also cant see through my hair in bright light...yet. My hairline is bad enough for me to not wanna have a slicked back hair style. I still have LOTS of thin vellus-like hairs outlining where my once glorious thick hairline ruled.

I just ordered Kirkland Minoxidil 5% and im thinking, that I will start out by testing it on a specific area, to see if i respond well. I read all the good and bad stories bout Minoxidil, and im hoping to avoid doing possible damage by testing slowly. Anyone who started out in similar fashion? This is my first step in treating my hair loss, so any advice will be greatly appreciated:)

NB: At this point I dont wanna add finasteride.

Thanks

Personally I think you shouldn't be using minoxidil, you may regret it if you start. By your description it sounds like your hair isn't that bad, if you don't have a bald spot on your crown and can't see your scalp under bright light, assuming your hair isn't very long, then it doesn't sound very thin to me.
I suggest you don't use the minoxidil at all! If you do you may make your hair loss worse like many others who used minoxidil. If it does work (it only works on 40% of men apparently) then you will have to use it forever, which is fine if it works but then some say after a while it stops working and you may shed all the new hair you grew and more, making your hair worse than it already is. My hair is a lot worse than yours (I'm 31) and if it was as good as yours there's no way I'd consider using minoxidil.
What I would recommend to you is "DS Laboratories Revita hair growth stimulating shampoo". This is one of the few shampoos that actually works for preventing hair loss, and it may help you grow some new hair back.
Please do not start minoxidil, you will regret it if you do. Send it back and get your money back!

@Cuddly Dave ,thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it. Well, my hair is bad enough for me to not wanna comb it back, and go around in public. Are you using the Revita shampoo?

I am using Revita but just got to the end of my first bottle so can't give my personal opinion yet.
Which Norwood are you? If you're saying you just don't want to comb it back I assume you only have slightly receded temples. I understand in your own eyes it's not the same as it used to be but if it's not really badly receded then to others it probably looks fine at 38. Do you see others your age much worse off than you? Do people ever comment on how thin/receding your hair is?

So you're recommending a shampoo to someone that you have no personal opinion about lol.

FAITH IN GOD is the only thing that can save his hair, my dear child.

When will you learn? And please, no more CURSE words. Last time I was very
offended when you said JESUS f*****g CHRIST. f***, GOD DAMN, HOLY MOTHER f****r,
shall never be uttered from your mouth!!

So you're recommending a shampoo to someone, which you have no personal opinion about its effectiveness lol.
I don't have to have used it for months to tell people it's supposed to work, everyone else that has used it that says it works is enough proof of its effectiveness.

I just find it funny that you suggest the OP not to try Minoxidil, a proven drug that could possibly help him achieve his goal for a shampoo which has no proven track record. A shampoo that you endorse without any experience or knowledge with of your own. By the way, have you seen Jesus hair?

Ok I accept Minoxidil might work fine for some, and I'm sure those people would be happy to recommend it to everyone, but it is only supposed to work on 40% of people. The other 60% either it doesn't work or may make your hair loss worse. If there's only a 40% chance of it working and any chance at all it might make things worse then that's why I'm against it. I saw a forum poll recently "Did you eventually grow back what you shed with Minoxidil", it was about a 50/50 split of yes/no, so nearly half the people were worse off after using minoxidil.
I not trying to push the Revita, I can see why you think that reading back, but I would recommend any shampoo with Ketoconazole that's designed for hair loss, Regenepure DR and Neofollics are supposed to be good also.
I've never seen Jesus in person so can't comment on his hair.
