Disappearence of all the old posters.

It seems like all of the old experienced posters are showing up less and less lately. Bruce was really the last of the people with over 500 posts that still posted on a frequent basis other then Hopewas who craves confrontation. We need some of the long time posters to come back and share their experiences or this hairloss community will cease to be a true community anymore.
Just my two cents.

if your were successful with battling hairloss (over a period a few years maybe) would u be here 24/7?

I wouldn't be here 24/7 and thats not what i'm talking about. Go back to posts from 2-3 months ago and look at the contrast in the posters actively participating during that time and now. I'm not judging the people for not posting. I just enjoy the forum more when they do decide to post.

BTW: If I successfully overcame my hair loss I will stay here and help anyone who needs it. NOT 24/7 but I'll be here.

you'll stay for awhile, but you'll find your self drifting towards a more "normal" lifestyle of not worrying about your hair as much and all... if that's possible

hey kramer, i am here for ya buddy. i have been a poster for over a year, but have been so busy for the last 4-5 months. since you are interested in the guys who have been around more than a day or two, i'll let you know my hair is doing well. propecia and minoxidil have helped very much with my thinning, it's the hairline that is a b**ch to get back. my crown has had some regrowth over the last year, but i am still anxious for a bit more density up there. i have been toying for some time with the idea of a hair transplant, and bruce has reccomended a good hair transplant Doctor for me when i am ready. I really am concerned mostly with my temples and hairline, since that is the hardest area to get regrowth, and minoxidil is not all that effective in getting it back full enough. i have been using propecia for over a year now with pretty good results, but have had the itch to splurge for some Avodart, this will be the next phase in my fight against hairloss. so, there you go kramer. hope you feel a little more love. by the way, how is your progress?

yooooo :D old timer here...funny thing is, first time i've been here in ages and i see Kramer's post - anyway, i'm still around, not *as* obsessed as i was in terms of scouring the sites etc. - this doesn't mean things are great or i don't care anymore, i'm just older, wiser, more realistic...i've spent a lot of time, a lot of money, used a lot of sh*t over the years, and my conclusion at the end of it all is use minoxidil, use an internal DHT inhibitor, use nizoral, have a good diet and just hope that it stops or slows down the process until such time you gradually get more accepting of it (or the miracle cure arrives)!

I got other things i want to concentrate on now, i'm not happy about it still, but i'm trying so hard to accept it more...i still get down about it, unhappy etc., i still have mad moments where i'll see a study on some supplement or other possibly helping hairloss and immediately go and order some online heh - but for the most part i'm pretty much done with topicals, i just stick with minoxidil now and use the Oz Brew formula at my old hairline as an experiment to see if it can grow new hairs from vellous dying hairs, without having to suffer experimenting on the rest of my hair and have bad sheds etc. - anyway, its early to tell with that but i thinkthere are signs it may help but then again i've thought that about a lot of other stuff i've used.

Anyway, in a funny way i miss the old HairLossTalk.com days when i was a newbie and it was Rich, and Rocky, and Bruce, and Pete, and Pipo, and Hair - hope all those guys are healthy & well :)

Old timers cycle in and out every year or so. Honestly this site is here for the people who need help, mostly the newbies, as they comprise about 90% of the visitors to this site. If people like yourself (Kramer) and I and the others can help them, then we're all making the world a better place, and this site is serving its purpose.

Except for me since I don't ever recall saying something to taunt, insult, offend, or criticize you. You just took it upon yourself to negativly comment about my posting, and openly disclose that you didn't like me.

Anyways, getting back to the main topic, I am always around and ready to answer to any questions regarding my hairloss battle success, and do manage to at least post several times in a day. I am not that quite an "ol timer" (I've been around for about 1.5 years), but I do try to stay with the flow of countless hairloss inquiries I see here every day. Anyways, my private message and e-mails are available to all those who seek experienced hair loss treatment advice, as well as many of us who have also been here for quite a while.

X is back, and always on track...

i try to stop in, but it's hard. i dont have a lot of free time, my hairloss situation isn't improving, and i'm not sure what advice someone who isn't having success should be giving to others....

It's nice to here from all you guys. I guess just because your not posting all the time doesn't mean that your never here.

Yeah i agree. I know from experience I used to be real down on myself about the whole situation and express that in some of my posts. I"m trying to be more optomistic in all mine now though because not only does whining not solve anything it just makes newbies more nervous.

hope you feel a little more love. by the way, how is your progress?

My progress is really hard to define. I think i've begun a pretty solid regime starting off with the Big 3 and soon to be incorporating Folligen to rid the irritation. It just seems like every time I think i'm seeing progress something happens that makes me feel that maybe its getting worse instead of better. A bad shed during month 2 really shook me up. I'm on Month 3 and I'm hoping things will start to turn around and that the shed will regrow before my High School Grad.

Thanks for the updates

Kramer.

I think a lot of guys come on here, get obsessed at first and rack up a ton of posts pretty fast (like I did).

I try to stick around and help as much as I can. But like Axon, the negativity wears away and you feel like your spinning tires if your positive.

Now that things are cosmetically improving for me, I am trying to get back into my old ways and quit living in a cave like I did for 6 months or so. I'm pretty much back to going out 5 nights a week like I used to.

Staying home and being depressed about male pattern baldness isn't going to grow a single hair I have learned.

Great site and I am glad I found it. I don't post near as much as I used to, but I don't plan on going away.

Yeah, when I first notiicing hairs on my pillow and in the shower, shedding all over, I spent like 2 solid weeks online, looking for answers. This site has the best of them, glad I found it. Then after a few months of taking propecia, no more shedding!! My hair is looking pretty good. Plus I followed the advice that styling can really help, and I stopped using so much gel, making my hair look thicker still. Now I pop in occasionally, and hope for that cure before my hair takes another turn for the worst.

Keep the faith, follow HLTs advice, and try not to freak out.

Good luck.

I'm not a veteran poster..but a veteran male pattern baldness fighter, so a little off-topic...I've been using minoxidil off and on since 1985 when it was crushed pills-in-a-bottle. A comment about the "more accepting of it."...I've had a couple of those episodes where I'd stop the fight, try to "accept it...it's nature's way", time drifts on, and then one day I look in the mirror and my hair is completely wiped out. Then I hear about minoxidil 5%, Propecia, or "something" else, and I get all stirred up and the cycle starts again. I guess maybe I'm looking for peace....but not at the cost of a bald head.

I'm a veteran, sort of. Reading the site for awhile, then joined in March 2003. First account got deleted, problem resolved, and I've been here ever since. I'm here all the time, mainly prepairing for the battle ahead.

but whaddya do when you've used propecia, and you've used minoxidil, and you've used whatever else...all without success? after a while you simply accept that you can only slow it down, doesn't make you any happier about it, but we need a constant flow of new products for people to keep feeling hope...(longer term users like me anyway)...but at the moment there doesn;t seem to be much on the horizon (not that will be commercially viable for the average guy at least).
