Do anti androgens cause heart disease?

I was talking to a friend of mine about hairloss and the topic of anti androgens came up. I told him that I used peppermint oil on my head as well as Nizoral cream. He said that there have been studies which link Anti androgens to increased risk of heart disease / failure. He also said to stop using Nizoral cream everyday because it is extremely toxic. It seems far fetched, but I have been having some pressure on the left side of my chest, as well as shortness of breath and a bit of fatigue dizzyness sometimes, which makes me worry a little. I went to see a cardiologist a while back, but it turns out nothing was wrong, this was before I started using anti androgens. Is it true about about AAs?

You're probably experiencing some side effects from minoxidil. It's normal, and nothing to worry about as long as it doesn't persist. Cut down on the dose, if it does.

I've heard about anabolic-androgen steroids affecting the heart negatively, but never anti-androgens.

Don't worry about Nizoral either. He's wrong. Topical use is something completely different than systemic use. I'm using Nizoral shampoo every day myself, and I've been doing so for a very long time.

Thanks for the reply Enden. Actually I'm not using Minoxidil. Only the regiment which I mentioned. I would be more at ease, but I feel that the cream is more absorbed than the shampoo because it sits longer on your head than the shampoo.

It is possible, but only one way to find out. Read about side effects from oral ketoconazole and see if more of it sounds familiar. Change to the shampoo for a while, and see if it gets better. Use it every day, but don't expose the scalp for more than 3 minutes.

I'm healthier than ever from exercising in the gym since starting finasteride. No heart problems at all.

I have never heard of these studies either.

Yeah, I thought so too, but he's not using minoxidil. I doubt that finasteride are causing those effects. Tiredness, dizziness and trouble breathing are listed as severe reactions towards oral ketoconazole. Just a heads up.
