Posting something here has been a long, long time coming and I hope this is the place for it. I THINK I see success here, but The Hairloss Road has been so long and filled with so many promising paths that led nowhere that I can't be sure I'm not deluding myself--so you guys tell me!

Problem and caveat: when I finally started 'real' treatments (May/June 2007) I was so despondent that I thought the odds of needing good before pictures were slim and none. So I didn't take any. So I'll have to make do with whatever I have on my old hard disk that at least show the top fairly well. I tried to match the rather odd camera angles.

These pictures were taken June 25th, 2006. I had just buzzed my hair to 1/2 inch and took a round of photos to show a friend up state. Same room, same overhead light, same time of day, same brand of camera (Kodak) as today's (but my newer Kodak is 5.0 megapixals instead of the 3.0 used in the 2006 pictures.

Today's pictures: first summer buzz since 2006. Again a 1/2 inch.

What do you think? Imagination?

Regimin: (consistent since April, 2008--I know I said June 2007 for 'starting' but that's another story)

Rogaine Foam (AM)
Generic liquid minoxidil (Equate, PM) with spironolactone dissolved in
Nizoral 1% (EOD since late May)
Nizoral 2% cream (AM) when I remember it (maybe three times a week)
Occasional Retin-A

Only internal is Prozac (which may actually have some effect by boosting 3Alpha-HSD to balance DHT, but that's speculation; I had to quit finasteride after three months because of serious depression from lack of allopregnanolone--made by 5-AR and 3Alpha, so if you are naturally llacking 3alpha somewhat, as my depressive family would indicate...gotta go).

Thanks guys!

It's kind of sickly funny that my hair is back to about where it was in 2005--IN 2005 I thought it looked like hell. I'll take it now, believe me. I'll see if I can find some pictures from early 2007 when my hair was at its worst, but I really, really tried to avoid cameras then. I was teaching college history at the time too; being in front of teenagers all day was rough and really what led me to finally try the real stuff--ala finasteride (even if I didn't stay with it in the long run) and minoxidil.

I will say this: they are the only things that work. 2005-2007 I tried ALL of the experiemental crap and my hair suffered for it. This includes, but is not limited to:
Saw Palmetto/Beta Sitosterol
Soy Isoflavones at rediculous ammounts
Green tea topically, by pill, and as...well...did you guys know you can drink it too?! :freaked:
A laser device--10@6mW, 550n
An electrical stimulation...thing
No shampoo; designer shampoos
Scalp exercises
A playful, if masochistic stab at needling
And so forth.

Glad to post something here. The success stories got me to try finasteride. Once you've made that plunge the others are a lot easier.

Best guys!

definitely a success. Not only does it look thicker, but to me at least, it looks like your hairline has expanded slightly as well. Congrats, and I hope things get even better for you.
