I am turning 21 yrs old this year. I've noticed more about my hair as i become older. I'm trying to figure out whether this is beginning of my baldness or just a widow peak. 2 of my older brother is balding with widow peak, while the other 1 still have quite thick head of hair on top.

The two balding brothers are aged 25 and 38 yrs old i think

The other one who's not balding(from my observation) is 31 years old.

Seems like random luck with my family gene? Btw here's some picture

I hate to say it but The first frontal pic shows recession. Have you ever had that hairline?

Hi, I don't speak English very well but I'll try to be clear with my question.

I'm 20 years old and I'm pretty sure that I'm getting bald, but I'd like to hear from someone who understand about hair loss. ps: my father is bald. Thank you very much and I didn't know how to create a post so that's why I'm commenting in here.

Thank you so much and I hope someone can help me.

Honestly, i am not sure if i am receding. I always had a little bit of widow peak when i was young, but i never really paid attention much when i was teenager. So i cant for surely said that my widow peak is receding more. Only started paying attention to this sort of stuff when I'm turning 21.

Does it really seems like recession? Would you recommend starting treatment now to avoid further loss?

Added one more photo for reference

I am a bit worried by the quality of your hair around the temples and in the very frontal part of the hairline. Hair is a bit shorter and thinner. Has it always been like this or is it a new thing?

Unfortunately it is difficult to say if you don't compare a before and after picture. If you say your widow's peak has always been like that, why worry? The shape of your hairline would suggest recession, unless YOU know it was always like that...

Edit: just noticed u werent replying to me lol. Unless you though that you was replying to me as well? If not then ignore what I wrote below

The middle frontal part has always been like that. The temple part i honestly not sure if both sides used to be much thicker and fuller.

What do you specifically mean by quality of hair around my temple? You mean thinning? If you need I'll to take more photo with natural light not flash this time so you can have better look.

I am worried as two of my brother is balding. They have receding widow peak kind of balding that starts from temple. I always had this weird widow peak, but im not sure if the temple used to be fuller of hair. I worried that maybe I've been balding since late teenagers(19yrs) but i subconsciously think of it as widow peak as I always had widow peak when I was younger.

Not sure if there's statistic for normal widow peak chances to become full on Norwood 3?

I mean that I worry that it would become worse? Sorry that I don't have before pictures for comparison.

But honestly, is it a good idea to start treatment now to avoid (potential further) balding you think?

Not thinning per se. Shorter than the rest of the hair. Which can be a signal hair _may_ soon look thinner..
Are you able to comb your hair as you always have, or do you have to put more attention?

Hey there's poster Kaio that you replied just now. Not sure if you thought that was me but that ain't me lol. Was this reply directed to me or him ? Lol

I kind of just keep swept my hair to either side. That's quite easy to do, i didn't notice much about it. Shorter not thinning you said? I had barber use clipper on the side, i think he used that around temple area as well.

If it was the barber who cut your hair shorter in the areas where shorter hair growth usually means thinning, then you should be fine.

I see. Btw if my hair become worse in the future turning into full norwood 2 or 1, what treatment regiment would you recommend? I just want to be prepared of the possibility.

Man, there is not a lot you can do :-( the only thing that works (on most people) is a combination of finasteride and minoxidil, to which you can add spironelactone and ketoconazole.

Is ketoconazole similar to sertaconazole? Can i use sertaconazole instead. Btw they are used as anti fungal cream right? And I think minoxidil 15% is easily available locally.

And sprionelactone is dieuretic, how would it help prevent balding? It's just dieuretic like coffee and tea?

What are the effectiveness of shampoo compared to the cream? I read that you are using the shampoo. Have you ever tried using cream instead?
No. Only shampoo.
I suggest you visit the different parts of the forum, you will learn a lot. Good luck!
