at least with their claim that they do help wash out the topical DHT on the scalp? exactly how important is that?

Does that mean that if you don't wash your hair often, that you have more DHT on your scalp which could be a problem?

Also with these products, as any others,...which are more effective.....shampoos or conditioners?

DHT is in your bloodstream not on the surface of your scalp. You can't wash it off unfortunately. In any case it has a useful job to do in the rest of your body.

DHT is in your bloodstream, but it also tries to bind to androgen receptors around hair follicles in male pattern baldness, and fortunately many shampoos permeate follicle deep. That's why hair specialist Dermatologists so often recommend Zinc and Ketoconazole shampoos. Topical antiandrogens can be of benefit. Ketoconazole has been shown be absorbed by the body through topical applications. It's even a warning on prescription Ketoconazole. So it stands to reason, leaving it on your scalp 3 times a week (using Revita or Nizoral for example) for a good 5 minutes will permeate the scalp and remove DHT from around the follicle to some degree.

That all said, I'm not convinced of Nioxin's efficacy. It does list Zinc Ferment among its ingredients, and topical zinc has been shown to have anti-DHT ability. Nioxin also lists Urtica Dioica (Stinging Nettle) among its ingredients which has been shown to interrupt the conversion of Testosterone to DHT in lab studies, but how much it does with Nioxin is variable, and in my view so variable that it's not worth the high cost of Nioxin when you could be buying Revita for example. I'd personally rather have a 2% Nizoral than anything on the market today.

nioxin for long term will give you more sheds in you're diagnosed with Androgenetic Alopecia/male pattern baldness. I've been using system 2 for like merely 3-4 years together with bloody expensive Follicle Booster and it doesn't help at all. for the price i pay, it make my hair very dry and easily drop. read my profile page. i'm still new here to look for regimen but currently i'm using this. i read lots of good review about organics especially the below.

Nizoral 2% 2x weekly
Avalon Organics Biotin B-Complex Thixkening Shampoo 12x weekly
