Do you need to refrigerate spironolactone?

Yes, treat spironolactone as a semi-perishable.

If it gets warm over a prolonged period of time, it starts emitting an odor similar to a Yankee Stadium urinal.

For saftey, I would install a small mirror in your fridge (if you have not got one in there already) and when applying the spironolactone climb inside the fridge and close the door.

Don't worry about the light going out, it's a myth that the light in a fridge goes out when you close the door.
