Does anyone else feel they lose more from the sides and back than the top itself?

I am a diffuse thinner myself but yet I barely lose hair from top. However, if I run my fingers through the back or sides I'll get my hands full of hair. Why is that? I don't remember ever losing much from top, even before hair loss. Mostly came from the sides/back, but still...

No, male pattern baldness doesn't occur on those areas. If you're getting hair from there it's just a normal part of the hair growth and shed cycle.

(yes, they can get very thin in old people, but I don't believe that's the same type of balding as male pattern baldness. I think that's something else, age related).

I meant losing hair by shedding, not that there are actual bald spots on my sides/back. I am a diffuse thinner so I naturally would expect to shed more from top than the sides, but in fact it's the opposite.

You could be experiencing DUPA or retrograde alopecia. This is pretty alarming and makes getting on finasteride imperative, as it pretty much severely limits your options of getting a transplant down the road.

I myself have some form of this and finasteride has helped strengthen my donor.

BI have this condition for 5 years, although my hair is shedding everywhere, it still looks thick, only my forehead is open, but the factor that causes hair loss in me is hypothyroidism. minoxidil stopped my hair loss.

If it's DUPA, then fina is mostly useless.

If it's retrograde, it will help

I basically have male pattern baldness, diffuse thinning, DUPA and retrograde alopecia. I've managed to hit each one of the genetic hair loss lotteries. Lucky me lmao.
