Does Anyone Take Teva finasteride Generics?

Anyone have any reviews on teva. Recent research shows the companys gots some problems and reviews of their aderall suck. Been looking a lot into generics and it seems like some just dont do the trick even though theyre all bio equivalent. Will insurance cover brand names if generics are available?

It really doesn't make sense to me how some people claim the generics don't work the same. It made me worried enough to ask my dermatologist for a "Do Not Substitute" prescription so I can continue to get the same generic brand that I know works (if they ever change it anyway I will probably hop on brand name Propecia.) I've used both Dr. Reddy's and now Camber and both have been amazing. I even looked up the active and inactive ingredients in the Camber finasteride on their website and it is the exact same as Merck Propecia.

There was a study done that I don't have time to look up right now where half the people were told they had the brand name drug and half the people were told they had generic. 30% more of the people with the generic drug complained that it didn't work as well as the brand name. Turns out, they were all given the brand name drug.

I think most of the time it is a psychological effect.

I had also thought it was all the same if the fda graded it equivilant yet the fda has taken its approval away from a generic teva has put out. Doctors and hair surgeons have also said that a switch to generic caused shedding in some patients thats improved after switching back. Then ive read that some generics dont even need all the patents. The response curve is so flat in finasteride that it woudnt matter dose wise yet there's still stories of these shed. Just makes you wonder.

The thing I've learned is you really can't overthink it. That plays into the psychological effect if you do. If you get a generic from your pharmacy with a prescription, odds are it is going to be the same as Propecia which has a flat dose response anyway. However, I would definitely not buy a generic online without a prescription. The only thing that I find annoying is your pharmacy can change generics at any time based on prices, which is why I had my doctor write a "Do Not Substitute" on my prescription.

If you really want piece of mind just get Propecia. That is what I will do if my pharmacy tries to change my generic.

Update: I just checked the Teva website and looked at the inactive ingredients in their generic finasteride and they are the same as Merck Propecia, just like my Camber finasteride.

Logically, theres no huge difference between real generic meds and brand name. Many studies have shown this with popular drug categories. Generic drugs typically deliver the active within 5% of the brand name.

With that said, there is a possibility of negative reaction to the inactive ingredients in generic or brand, or just none response to the active in generic or brand. I believe most of the stories you see online about brand vs generic are explained by this.

The inactive ingredients in Propecia and those two generics are the exact same give or take one or two.

I'm using camber finasteride from keeps a online source that sets you up with a prescription for it I hope it works just as good as brand name

I have heard some brand name work a little different than the generics. Some work better, others not as well. I have taken both generic and brand name medication and both work equally well. I am now taking generic finasteride.
