Most people will shed if their hair cycles are altered. Shedding means the person is most like a good responder. If you don't have male pattern baldness and you take finasteride, your negative effect will be on your finances, your hormones and possibly your sex life. If you don't have a diagnosis then why take it. Look into genetic testing for balding. Maybe someone still offers it. I had it done but the company went under.
No they have nothing to do with determining the balding gene. You have to have genetic testing for that. Are you still questioning your decision to take finasteride. I don't think that is wise. You will never know unless you just stop using it. Are you willing to take that risk?

Hey man what do i say to my endocrinologist to get the genetic testing you are saying for the balding gene. I already did a genetic analysis which was 1260$ covered by insurance for a specific thing and turns out they were right, i have a thing called congenital adrenal hyperplasia but besides that do i have to do the testing again or is the answer in the analysis i already did?!
Unfortunately, because it will be considered another test, you will have to get swabbed again.

So they test for something specific if i understood correctly, they dont learn about all the genes you have.

Theres only 1? For my condition they gave me a report of 15 different genes and sections of genes? We are losing hair cause of a single gene?
Genetical hair loss/ hair is a polygenic phenomene. There are plenty of genes coding the phenotype of your hair. Even if we figure out how to re-code genes, to solve genetic diseases, male pattern baldness will be hard to solve. Everyone's gene make-up is unique. There is no formula.
