Does grey hair correlate to thin hair?

This is probably a long and uninteresting post to most but thought I would see if anyone has some insight
Long story short 30 years old had slight receding and thinning at temples, more so on the right side, jumped on finasteride and oral minix and they have both thickened back up nicely over the last 2 years however…
Started going grey early, mainly salt and pepper on the sides and back but I have a large grey patch of hair at the very front and slightly to the right of my scalp. it is almost 70%grey in this patch I would guess with the other 30% dark brown or fading closer to grey. Whereas the rest of my scalp would be 70% dark brown to 30% grey

my problem is this patch of hair looks noticibly thinner to the rest of my hair to the point where you can easily see scalp even under minimal downlighting.
I can’t work out whether its
1. Grey hair is structurally thinner than pigmented hair
2. The grey is a similar colour to the scalp creating an illusion of thin hair with visible scalp
3. This patch of hair has genetically “aged” faster in recent years which has both caused greying and the male pattern baldness to progress faster just in this area. Which is an unusual area as the temples normally go before the front centre.

I can’t work it out as there was no signs of male pattern baldness in this section 2 years ago… only at the temples. The temples have filled in nicely however this patch is looking like my temples did haha.
