Does Isotretinoin At Low Dosage Cause Hair Thinning/ Miniaturization?

i have back acne which bother me and would like to take 5 mg accutane to destroy this , but will it cause miniaturization or rather Telogen Effluvium ? would minoxidil couter this side? thanks

I began my second course of Isotritonoin a weeks ago, i read ALL internet, i start with 10mg, then 20mg, then 30mg,
at 30-20mg hair was really dry and fragile and i experience lot of hair loss than usual, then i go back to 10mg and hair is better now,
i cant tell if i have more hair loss than before, since i shed a lot at the beggining with 20-30mg,
how much do you weight? i am 85kg but athletic shape.
i think 5-10mg its not gonna cause major hair loss, maibe 5mg its to low at it will take to much time to errase de acne,
at the beggining i started with 10mg and after 1 month didnt see any improvement, then go to 20-30 and notice incredible hair loss,

now i have been almost 3 months i think since i started and its getting much better the acne.

its difficult to start the course knowing that you could possibly get hair loss, but acne is a b**h , and can cause you stress and other that promote hair loss,

Also i am with minoxidil 1time night and oral minoxidil in the morning, and just have acne in my back neck.

thanks for your answer bro. really interesting . I am 6"1 and 65 kg ( really lean to hide dutasteride gyno... ). i took a full course of accutane when i was 16 yo ( 27 now ). I tried low dose in the past, and it cause me dryness, but i don't support acne anymore, tired of it...
You take oral min + topical min liquid? no issue with your liver with accutane + oral min? No hypertrichosis/ weight gain / dark circle under eye / wrinkle / puffy eyelid from the oral min
That is kinda clever because oral min might couter the negative hair side of accutane.

it would be great to know if isotretinoin cause telogen effluvium or hair miniaturization. According to the studies it tends to be more Telogen Effluvium .

Well i dont know yet if the hair going to be telogen, since i am in the middle of the couse, crazy i am like you 27 now first course at 16 haha
yes i got some gyno with dutas and i quit because didnt experience any better, now i am back on finas, but the gyno still but not that bad since i have kind of athetlic body,
well with 10mg the dryness is minimal (85kg) well i avoid to drink alcohol and take some liver vitamins, i check my liver one month ago after like 2 months maibe playing with the dosage to find the one suited fo me, a the liver was fine, yes i have some weight gain, dark circle and maibe some wrinkle, but i can live with them, dont really botter that much
i am good looking by the way, so maibe i dont look 100% but i want hair and no acne so i take the risk

Before the accutane i used to be a heavy drinker, so i thing a have a stron liver haha, coronavirus was the moment to take the accutane and get some alcohol detox,

I am on 20mg isotretinoin PER WEEK, it did wonder to my severe cystic acne.

No change in hair, no sides effects

I did a spell of Roaccutane when I was 16 and stopped 2 weeks before my 17th birthday since it cleared my cystic acne right up. By the time I was 17 though, my hairline was receding. I never really observed changes to my hair while I was on Roaccutane, only afterwards. But I hear this discussion brought up a lot and I always wonder if it brought my male pattern baldness on early? Really, it probably didn't, but I always wonder if there was a connection. My brother was on Roaccutane too as a teenager and he said his hair quality did deteriorate a bit when he was on it. Although I never actually noticed his hair getting worse while he was on it, just heard him mention it.

Either way, he's 18 and his hairline is much better than mine was at that age thankfully... hope he's dodged this awful disease, but who knows...
