Do you fall below baseline in term of hair weight and haircount , when you stop using minoxidil .

Does it cause some healthy hair to shed ?

in this study we can see that haircount drop way below baseline , and even if it come back slowly , this is still worst than baseline .

Worth noting for those who dont click on the study that it has nothing to do with minoxidil. It's about finasteride. Unless I'm missing something... which is possible I just skimmed it.

I think minoxidil is not worth a hassle.... As only six weeks into it still can give up as had no major shed when started it anyway. I wish it would work but used in past for 2 years and did not give any visible results. Actually I have noticed kind of pulsing, tingling sensation that lasts almost 24 h since restarted 6 weeks ago..makes me thinking that triple dose of DHT is being supplied to my hair follicles due to minoxidil. I rather go bald gradually instead of messing up with hair growth cycles etc....

I remember the first time i tried minoxodil (liquid) back in 2011, quit after a week due to side effects. Week after i quit i had a monstershed. At the time my hairline had receded but my hair in general was dense af. Hair got pretty diffuse after that shed. I regrew some i guess, but never got back to the state it was. Fast forward 5 years i decided to try minoxidil again, but this time the foam version. Used it for 6months without much results or any noteworthy reactions, i got some superlight vellus hair at my temples but that was it basically. I find it weird i had such a strong reaction to minoxidil the first time around, maybe the minoxidil reactive follicles just shed and never came since i discontinued use.

If you start using minoxidil you better dont stop using it. ive made that mistake....
