Been on it for around 2 years as well as 5% minoxidil. Absolutley no results, the same as ever. Hair saying "bye". So depressing. The only difference is my loss of money and I still keep buying fooling myself something must be working.

You've been taking the full dose (0.5 mg/day) for two years and you're still losing hair? Are you absolutely positive about that?

There’s a percentage of Avodart non-responders, and there’s a percentage of minoxidil non-responders.

But being a non-responder for both? That’s pretty bad luck.

I don't get the "non-respond" thing. Does this mean that DHT isn't reduced or does it mean DHT is reduced but hairloss continues? Removing almost all DHT from your body should stop hairloss.

it depends how sensitive your follicles are to it. it can still screw your hair up even in small amounts if you particularly susceptible to it. someone can probably explain this better than me.

Dalek, I wouldn´t stop treatments since it may be possible that they at least slowed down your hair loss drastically.

I found this on Propecia:
http://72.14.253.104/search?q=cache...n+responders&hair loss=es&gl=mx&ct=clnk&cd=20
PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE
FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION
CENTER FOR DRUG EVALUATION AND RESEARCH

Dermatologic and Ophthalmic Drugs Advisory Committee Meeting
Discussion on Propecia

DR. KILPATRICK: I understand; and the other, the treated?

I broadened the question to ask about treated patients who did not respond, and there were a fair number of them, again, roughly a third, I think you said. And did they have any characteristics that would--may indicate a labelling restriction?

DR. KAUFMAN: We were not able to identify any characteristics about patients before they began on study drug or during the study that would help us decide a year later whether they would be in the group that reported a response from their own perspective or that had improvement in global photographs or in hair counts.

Maybe the drug manufacturers don’t even know why some people don’t respond to their drugs. Or maybe everyone responds but some respond very weakly.

Dalek,
what is your current Norwood?
After being on dutasteride have you moved from NW1 to NW4 or 5?
Are you expecting dutasteride to take you back from NW2 to NW1?

I would say I am between a III Vertex and a IV. Perhaps because I am not seeing signs of regrowth I am paniking a bit.

I order my dutasteride from United Pharmacies. I have also started to dip my head in cold water and cider vinegar in the mornings for about 30 sec as with massage it gets the blood flowing. I get a warm feeling afterwards. I read it in a hairloss book once but I stopped doing it some years ago. Won't hurt.

I would think vinegar would get blood flowing to the surface of the skin, not the follicles. Reddening the surface may increase absorption of other drugs, but I think trying to go through the stratum cornelium is not the best way. I think letting drugs go down the pores is the best way.

Whatever, I just think all hair loss products are a waste of money. I have been using various things for 19 years without any success. If only I could have the money back I have spent. Very very depressing indeed, with no hope of any cure.

19 years and you are a nw3, have you even thought you could easily be a nw7 by now? My father went from nw1 to nw7 in less than 7 years.

19 years --- the majority of that is before propecia came on the market. No other drug slows hair loss in clinical trials. So I'm not surprised you think the "cures" you tired were a waste. But propecia is not. It should slow down your hair loss.

If you shave your head, you will look a lot better with NW3 roots than NW6 roots. Propecia will let you keep those roots longer.

its likely your dutasteride could be bogus.

i used to order from united and had a similar experience- no improvement, just a slow decline for nearly 2 years plus induced illness when i increased the dose- beware.

it wasnt until i switched back to genuine avodart that my hair has stopped falling out, using dutasteride from UP really cost me some hair im pissed off about it but what can i do.............. except swear lots. fvcken dodgy drugs.

try getting genuine avodart and see if it makes a different

or generic dutasteride from one of the other places generic users can vouch for- inhouse pharmacy is a popular one

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Oy! Oy! Oy!

UP does not sell fake products. You know you could get in trouble for the stuff you are saying on this forum, slandering them like this.
