Does propecia affect sperm and reproduction?

ok this one was created to be thought provoking. The topic was brought up b/c Propecia is terotogenic towards females.

First off let me clarify with a few qualifying questions:

1)Does propecia effect a man's sperm?

2) Does the sperm that is passed during fornication affect the female's physiology thus having an impact on the development of the child?

Good question, I was thinking the same thing.


Not that I want to have kids anytime in the next decade though....

1) only indirectly, since the sides may include lower libido, which could lead to less erections and less secretions, leading to lower sperm production. but it wont directly lead to lower sperm count-in fact, it's been proven that this isn't the case.
2) the FDA says it's ok to conceive while on finasteride, but some people think it might be good for the man to stay off finasteride for a week before conceiving. personally, i don't think it's a problem, but all that's necessary is one case of a baby being affected by his dad being on finasteride to prove this wrong.

don't worry. i think if there had been a case of a baby being affected by his dad conceiving him while being on finasteride, we would've been talking about it by now.

2) Do sperm passed have effect on fetus? Well I think sperm do play a part yes. Now if you mean will finasteride exist in some infinitesimal amount during conception, then the answer is, no in theory. They never studied it in people.

I think it does affect males sperm. i will have to post up my story either lata or tomorrow. im torn whether to get back on it, i have high suspitions it fucked my sperm concentration up. why aint there no damn studies on this!! r thy tryna avoid the matter?
