Does anything?

I am a newbie, and still doing research, and keep seeing the phrase "dreaded diffuse thinner..."

What are possible treatments for this?

Is propecia effective?

1st rule of approved male pattern baldness treatments: You won't know until you try. Some people had success with it some people didn't. There is no 100% thing that works.

There was a recent thread that caused some people to hotly debate this issue. The conclusion: there was none. Some diffuse thinners report finasteride working very well for them, some reported nothing at all, some claim that it caused them to loose more hair than they would have without it. My personal opinion is that not taking finasteride is a good way to guarantee that eventually you will go bald. Even on the off-chance that it accelerates your shedding, you should by all means try it.

yes it is effective for it. diffuse is just spread out male pattern baldness. if genetics are the reason for your hair loss, propecia has a good chance of helping you.

Jay - whats your take on dutasteride v finasteride for diffuse thinning (specifically for DF, as opposed to 'standard' male pattern baldness) ... you have been on the board longer, so please give me your take ...

thanks again

Alot of controversy has boiled up in recent times as to whether treatments work for diffuse thinners or not. There's no definite answer, I mean you ask me do the treatments really work? and let me ask you: do you really exist? don't answer yes! Sit down, cancel your plans to watch Legally blonde 2 for the 4th time and just think about it.

i think it works best with "diffuse"

many people say that are diffuse, but when male pattern baldness starts, it is diffuse, you lose hair all over, then you start noticing the hairline and crown...

dutasteride will work better than finasteride for most people , diffuse or non-diffuse. most people say to start out with finasteride though. i jumped to dutasteride because it gives 50% more regrowth on average.
