Greetings all,

So I was doing some reading about various therapies involving microneedling. Someone here recently posted a study about one done in Korea with "Cellcurin", some product containing FGF9 and other growth factors. Then I remembered other treatments done with Platelet-rich Plasma, and it all just got me thinking, can't you just buy a microneedling pen, and do these what look like effective treatments on yourself? Saving you A. all the $1000s of dollars that they cost just for the treatment, and B. the travel to Korea for some of them.

I mean, you need a blood drawing syringe, tubes, and a centrifuge (which are a reasonable cost), and the microneedling pen (which also look cheap). Any other here have any experience doing this? It doesn't sound too hard or crazy to think of. If anyone does have any experience with microneedling, which one is a good buy? I'm deadass thinking about doing this fairly soon.

As far as I know FGF9 is responsible for the amount of regrowth attainable through wounding, this is basically the main limiting factor in the wounding process. By increasing this you are able to drastically improve the amount of regrowth from wounding which is normally a very slow and eventual process if the balding rate does not exceed it. I haven't really looked at Platelet-rich Plasma since it seems to be out of reach to anyone here and an unrealistic way to go about regrowing hair for a typical person. You can definitely give it a try and report back though if you're successful with what you're thinking but I can't imagine it's nearly as easy as you think.

PRP rarely does anything but I'm wondering where you heard that about FGF9 because that's interesting

Thanks. Just skimmed over their published study, that is interesting. God bless those Koreans, I wonder if it's available over there

So PRP doesn’t do anything? I thought those procedures cost 1000s of dollars. I was just thinking about saving money bc I could do it for next to nothing with just a $600 upfront cost

Some people get mild results with it. Others get literally nothing. I think the idea of it is more appealing to people than the actual results tend to be

Thanks. Yeah I saw a YouTube video of some guy who did a full series of treatments, and he was so “amazed” by the results, but it looked exactly the same, he just grew it out a little. So yeah, doesn’t seem like much, moving on. Just got a little excited for a minute
