What can I do after donating blood while taking finasteride? 2 Years ago, I donated blood and I CANT remember if I told the nurse that I am taking finasteride (most likely I did say but I just can't remember). Now I am feeling guilty that I may have affected a pregnant woman or a pubescent boy.

2 Questions:

1. If I ask the hospital, do you think they may tell me the gender/age of the recipient?

2. Let's assume that some pregnant woman got it, usually it's a 100% chance that she will be affected? What is the general statistics?

In the leaflet of my finasteride there isnt any alert to not donate blood. I suppose because the short half life the medication is full gone in just 1-2days.
In dutasteride yes its adviced to not donate blood until 6 months are passed

Dude! Your stress doesn't really help anyone 2 years later. I am 100% they won't tell you whom the blood went to - that is protected personal information (HIPAA). If you're stressed about the wellbeing of people around you, better invest that energy doing kind things around you than thinking about what might haves regarding people and thing you don't know and have no way to know... it may or may never have happened anything related to your blood donation. Be careful next time!

That is with clearance by functioning liver and kidneys. The half life just sitting in blood will be longer most likely.

I wouldnt worry about it. You had good intentions, and really most likely it did not go to a pregnant lady. Just lesson learned be more careful next time. No one is perfect we all make mistakes.

I would like to just point something out. Any blood you donate isn't casually used, they will test/check the blood prior to giving it to someone, they aren't trusting you based on your "honesty" otherwise anyone with HIV etc could casually go donate blood and infect hundreds of people without anyone being the wiser.
