I'm sitting here Sunday with my son running around playing, and I was thinking about how I am growing my hair out for the first time since like 2000. My regimen given me this opportunity to try to grow the top out. For years I was a 2 (clippers) on the side, and a 5 on top... though sometimes I did 1 on the sides and three on the top. But most of the time really short hair pissed me off.
A few months ago I had the stylist use the 3 guard on the side, and cut the top with scissors. Of course I ended up looking like the guy who is trying to cover up loss but trying to avoid some excessive combover.
I had a better attitude and outlook over the last few months. So I've decided not to cut my hair for another month or two or until everyone tells me it's a mop. That would be nice feedback.
Right now I have some long hairs that make the top overall look better and look like I have better 'coverage' than I actually have.
I'm not sure where I am going with this, but I'd just close by saying that if your hair looks like mine was last year, don't just go and cut your hair all short because you spend 6 months looking at your workgang haircut.
