So im 28 always had a hairline. But now i have a visible bald spot on my crown and everything else is thinning pretty bad especially the front of my head its just a few hairs. Ive gotten some finasteride and minoxidil and some shampoo thats supposed to block dht. My question is it gonna actually regrow my hair or just pretend the rest from falling out. Also my hairs very dry snd brittle after i use the shampoo so should i look into using conditioner?

It should prevent the rest of your hair from falling out. Only some regrow, and others continue to lose despite treatment. Are ya feeling lucky?

When people say it mostly prevents further loss, does that mean you shouldn’t expect thinner hairs to thicken? Or do they mean regrowth from slick bald is not typical.

It means you should not expect thinner hairs to thicken. In some cases those hairs will thicken, and in even rarer cases hair already completely lost will come back a bit.

That’s a bummer. I always thought growing back from slick bald was unlikely but thinner hairs had a good shot at thickening.

Its not impossible. finasteride is a fairly weak drug. dutasteride has a better chance at reversing miniaturised hairs but even that does not compare to the heavy hitting hair loss drugs.

It all depends on you. How well do you respond to 5AR inhibitors, if at all. How old are you? Younger scalps (follicles) are more resilient and can bounce back. How long have you been losing your hair? The longer it's been gone, the more likely it's beyond coming back.

True. Plus if you’re not too far gone maintaining isn’t the worst thing. Can always get a transplant if everything’s stable.
