DownTheDrain's story (20 Year Old Guy Needing Help!!!)

I have been looking through the forum for quite some time now, and at last I have plucked up the courage to make my first post!

Anyway, I am a 20 years old suffering from thinning on the top of my head. But I am only thinning on the parts where I comb my hair. Is this still classed as major hair loss??? I am finding my side parting is getting quite thin.

At the moment I am using alternatively Nizoral and American Crew Shampoo to reduce the hair loss. I stopped using the AC Revitalise spray after I shampoo because I find that more hair comes out when I gently rub it onto my scalp.

Is there something I could use to stop (or reduce) the thinning? I am more interested in the shampoo medium because it is quicker and less fuss. Plus I find my hair doesn't fall out that much when I wash it compared to when I put some spray product on my hair (if that makes sense).

I am interested in using Tricomin Conditioning Shampoo since it has a higher amount of Copper Peps (I think). Would this be enough to stop the hair loss if I use this on a permanent basis???

I wash my hair 3-4 times a week because it gets greasy quite quickly. Should I reduce the amount of times I wash my hair to reduce thinning???

Sorry for going on for sooo long but I would appreciate if anyone could guide me onto the best path and any more info would be great!

I also like to say that this website is great! It is the only website I found which has lots of information! So big thanks to the guys who made this website!

Good that you are on the nizoral. I would add in Tricomin as you say, but not the shampoo. Instead, use the Tricomin spray, that you apply after the shower in a similar fashion as the AC Revitalize you used to use. Tricomin products, supposedly, have a higher amount of CPs in them, but these are best administered in the spray format. The tricomin shampoo won't deliver enough CPs on its own to do didly.

Don't concern yourself about individual hairs falling out. It is no indication of how much male pattern baldness might be progressing because all people lose hairs at varying rates on different days. It is a function of your internal physics, and has nothing to do with what you applied to your hair that particular day.

Frequency of hair washing has zero effect on thinning. Remember, thinning is genetic and using shampoo ain't gonna change your genes. So, I suggest you shampoo your hair at least once a day, if anything, for reasons of hygiene.

Thanks for the reply!

I will definetly have a go at Tricomin Spray. But how long will it take before I notice a difference in my hair and the reduced fallout???

I also have another question. I have heard that wearing a cap can also cause increased hair loss. I wear a cap during the week when I am at Uni because I hate combing my hair.

Is there any validity in the fact that wearing a cap increases hair loss?

Sorry for all the questions. I really do appreciate it!

As for the tricomin and stopping fallout, it all depends how well you respond to it. But hopefully you notice reduced fall out in a months or so, it takes time, you have to keep that in mind.
Wearing a hat will not affect your hair loss at. This is just a misunderstanding that has been spread. I wear at hat to uni every day also. Just make sure the hat isnt on too tite...
Good luck and keep us updated
