Hey all!

Decided to make a post here, because I wanted to track my experience from the beginning. I am a soon to be 28 year old and a fairly fit male. I have been on finasteride and minoxidil for around 6 years and attempted to get a hair transplant at age 23, but was turned down due to young age. Now at an older age I decided to just do it! I was told I needed around 1500 grafts for a dense-pack fill. Let me know if you guys have any interest or questions in regards to my story.

Note: at the time of my procedure I had just turned 28.

i decided last year around September that I was comfortable with getting a procedure done soon. Since I knew that the top doctors had waiting lists up to and over a year I decided to bite the bullet. As an engineer by trade I spent countless hours researching and planning. I had originally wanted to get my procedure done by one of the top doctors in Spain. However, I had visited Spain last October 2019 visiting and the long flight plus the unknowns of recovery in a foreign country did not seem too convincing. I iterated and went with who I felt was the best doctor in North America. I go a little bit in depth with how I choose Konior over other doctors much closer to me in the YouTube video.

I posted a lot more background info on myself as well as my history with hair loss among many other things please watch if you are interested.

My surgery went amazing and my experience during the planning with Konior was nothing short of amazing. Once again for a more detailed breakdown feel free to watch the videos.

How has your hair changed since 23y/o to 28y/o pre surgery. Did finasteride maintain your hair?
Hey boss,

thankfully due to probably finasteride I was able to maintain most of my hair from 23-28. Maybe some slight hair loss but nothing significant, also been on minoxidil and biotin for the same about of time.

Looking good man. Happy for you. Did Konior advise you not to get a hair transplant at 23 or was it some other doctor? I know Konior doesnt really look at age. Mostly pattern and treatments.

Hey, thanks boss. it was actually Rassman that rejected me. Since I was only a few hours away from him, I really wanted to go with him. He did an amazing job explaining why it was not a good idea and I should wait. As I got older I did more research and decided to go with Konior.

Yup, that makes much more sense now. Rassman is a big advocate on refusing to work on young patients. If I recall correctly he has pretty much a strict cutoff for anyone under 30. He probably wouldn’t of performed on you regardless of your 5yr maintenance.

Konior, in my opinion, is just in a class of his own. Theres no other reason why people will still go to him despite the $10/graph fee. I think come this time next year, you’re going to be very happy.

if you were considering a hair transplant at 23, did you recede even younger than that? I sort of want to know more about your hairloss at 20-23. Pre-treatments. Im turning 22 soon and I cant wait till Im 24/25 to fully commit to a hair transplant with Konior’s office. Its legit driving distance.

Great questions. Rassman is a well respected doctor in this community so I really took his advice to heart. I had filled out an online form with pictures and he called me the next day. I truly respect him for taking the time to reject me and explain his reasoning. At that point all I could do was wait, like I could have easily gone to another doctor that would have done a hair transplant on the younger me, I really valued Rassman’s opinion.
Around two years ago, I decided that I had the means to get a transplant with a top doctor and my hair loss had more or less stayed the same.

I actually started to recede around 21years of age. I had not noticed this until my barber had mentioned it to me during my 21st bday haircut. I was beyond dismayed and decided immediately I needed to do something about it. My dad has an amazing hairline at age 54, so much so that he combs his hair up and back just to show off his hairline lol. Anyways, we have a dermatologist as a family friend who had some experience with hair loss and he gave me minoxidil to try at first. minoxidil on it’s on did not look like it was working so a few months after he prescribed finasteride.

From age 21-22 my hair loss was at its worst, could also have been because I did not jump on finasteride immediately. If you’re
not on finasteride I’d encourage you to look into it and minoxidil.

Konior has been a class act, absolutely satisfied with my decision to choose him. Also, it’s more like $13 a graft but that was a little over a year ago just FYI. Do your research! There are really good doctors in Spain like Cuoto, who I strongly considered. try to see similar hair loss stories to yours. If you have similar hair loss to mine then just follow my journey along. I might stop posting here, but will always update on my YouTube channel.

Thanks for taking the time. Only question that I have left is. Are you on topical or oral minoxidil?

And Wow $13/graph. Insane. I actually had a consultation with Dr. Nadimi and will probably go with her for my procedure when I turn 24/25. Ive been on finasteride since age 20, so If I can maintain wel till 24/25, I think its green lights ahead!

thanks again for your input man. And happy growing!
