Okay, I'm going on finasteride 0.625 mg with neutrogena t/gel against my KNOW-NOTHING physicians advice.

Seriously, this guy knows nothing about hairloss, and he refuses to recommend me to a dermatologist who does. He is 100% positive that Hairloss comes from your mothers brother.

So, I can't really take him seriously since he knows nothing.

Here's the situation.
I'm 19.
Apparently I'm the "picture of health".
No history of heart disorder in my family.
I'm slight under average weight.
I have a receding hairline.

I'm going on Finasteride, and unless you guys have some very good reasons not to, you can't stop me! NANNER!

f***, balding is GAY!

Edit:
I might add that I'm a norwood 2 and have been on the SE for a few months.
I might use Rogaine just to thicken up my hairline, and then terminate using it.

Haha,
do it. Screw your doctors.

Come on, everyone's doing it. You don't want to be uncool, right?

Haha, peer pressure. Do it.

By the way,
I was 19 when I went on Finasteride. Although I was prescribed it by a Dermatologist, I don't regret getting on it.

Aplunk, your second reply really gave me some positive encouragement.

The finasteride didn't inhibit your growth, or anything like that? Like, do you feel Finasteride cheated you from a couple of inches of height? Or maybe... a n inch of *length*, you know, *down there*?

Good, I try to keep positive and upbeat...

Finasteride did not inhibit my growth. I'm 20 years old now, going on 21 in July, and I've probably already reached my final height of 5'10 or 5'11. Finasteride is in no way linked to your height.

As far as *down there* goes... I had awful sexual side effects on Finasteride. I'm still recovering from them a bit. As far as *length* goes, sometimes I get the impression that I've lost maybe an inch in length. But, I've never measured myself nor probably intend to.

Since my experience with Finasteride, I've since used Avodart. If you know much about Avodart, it's a similar treatment to finasteride, except much stronger. So far, I've had NO SEXUAL SIDE EFFECTS! Hurray! My libido is coming back much stronger, and in all, I'm much more satisfied with the hair regrowth properties of the medication.

Well, to answer your question clearly, I have no concrete qualms with finasteride, except for the fact that it significantly lowered my libido during the time I was on it. I don't think that you should be scared about getting on Finasteride, though. You SHOULD NOT be scared to get a prescription for it. If you feel that it's not working out for you, you can always quit treatment.

I hope this helps you.

Who needs a prescription? I'd order online because its 10x cheaper, anyway

I just want to point out that your idea to get on minoxidil to thicken up the hairline and then drop it is totally wrong. minoxidil needs to be used as long as you want to keep the hairs it brings back.

Yeah, I actually asked a question about that in another forum catagory.

Man, I need a thicker hairline by TOMMORROW.
Will 2% spyro work?

Take the recommended 1 mg dose, or dont bother at all.

What an idiot. Is anyone else scared that someone with this level of ignorance is actually practising medicine.

Hey man, definately do it...I'm 22 now and I wish I would've started when I was 19, could've saved some hairs up front for sure.

My mother's brother is almost 60 and has no recession whatsoever, almost a full head of hair. I'm 22 and I have a pretty bad receeding hairline...so...yea...I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with your doctor.

Good luck man.

Ugh. 1/5th'ing fincar is going to be a b**ch. What about all those studies that show even 0.2mg is effective in reducing DHT scalp levels?

Well, he's not a dermatologist. But the fact that he's shouting out this information as if its fact, yet he doesn't know what he's talking about, is just another way of spreading misinformation.

I feel sorry for the guy who sees his mother's brother has a full head of hair, and yet he's a norwood 5, so he comes to the conclusion that he's adopted. :) :) :)

Misinformation = bad.

Edit:
Hey, I could 1/10th it, since 10 is an even number it would be easier to do accurately, then I could have 2/10ths at a time which is 1/5th
