Dry/stale Hair When I Wake Up After Using Lipogaine

Hey everyone,

So I've been using lipogaine at night for a couple of years now and recently over the last month or so I've noticed that certain parts of my hair are super dry and stale when I wake up. My hairline has suffered a bit over the last few weeks since I've noticed this. I had a similar issue just much more extreme about 8 months ago when I decided to take zinc/grape seed extract to try to limit my estrogen/increase my libido. At that time nearly half of my head was extremely stale. Recently, I have been taking a multivitamin designed for athletes/body builders daily. It has a ton of different things in it such as zinc/ALA ect. (at low doses) that I believe might be causing my hairloss so I discontinue its use a few days ago. Although it seems like this time the issue is only when I use lipogaine since I decided to skip using it two nights ago and I woke up with pretty soft hair.

I'm thinking about using a clarifying shampoo designed for dry hair since I believe it may be caused by lipogaine buildup. Increasing my finesteride to 1 mg 3 times a week as opposed to .5 twice a week and maybe switching over to regular rogaine for a while. I'm afraid that switching over to regular rogaine will have a very negative impact on my hair though. Has anyone had any experience with dry hair like this? Anyone ever switch from lipogaine to rogaine successfully? Do you guys think that maybe the multivitamin could have been the issue? Any feedback would be really appreciated. Thank you.

In the U.S., they don't even sell it any more. The U.S. is so f*****g a*** retentive.

It used to be you could buy anything for hair on Amazon, until 2012.

Yea Idk what happened to their amazon account but I agree. I just order it through their website now. It takes about a week and a half to get to me in NJ but I can still get it.

I had dry hair from eiher lipogaine, rogaine shampoo or revita shampoo or finasteride.. It was really dry to the bone... What I did was:
1) Bought one of them fancy conditioners (kerrastese, the one with flower oils) - about 40 EUR for
2) Bought loreal hair oil - again the one with flower oils - 7 EUR
3) Bought emu oil and olive oil -20 EUR
------------------------------------------------------
4) Bioderma shampoo for dry hair, no SLS - 13 EUR

I apply all these products on wet hair, wait for 7 minutes and then wash them up with a Bioderma shampoo

The quality of my hair has improved after 2 weeks :)

You should try it, not saying it will help as each person is different, but this is what I use after spending hundreds on different products.

My hair was getting really dry as I am on finasteride (less sebum means dry hair in my case), lipogaine (contains alcohol), RU in Neogenic (contains alcohol as well), keto shampoo (this is obvious).

I have a question for you regarding Lipogaine, as my recent batch is not dark yellow (like a pee pee), but more like pale yellow (almost transparent).

Have you also received this presumably "new" Lipogaine ?

I am trying to figure out whether they changed formula or what not...

Thanks !

Hey sorry for the delayed response. I've been taking lipogaine for awhile now and have made my own type of 'snake oil' before. I have seen the color/composition change before but I don't think it's anything to be alarmed about. From my experience I am assuming the lighter yellow color means they added less saw palmetto to the batch since saw palmetto is a yellow/orange color. I haven't really had any issues with lipogaine until recently but I don't think it's due to the lipogaine composition. Anyway thanks for the info I really appreciate it. I definitely at least need to look into hair oils or something similar to put in my hair prior to bed to prevent moisture loss.

Thanks for the response.

You are probably right about Lipogaine and Saw palmetto.
I actually put a few drops of liquid saw palmetto, 0,5 mg of azelaic acid and 1/2 of 5mg finasteride pill to my Lipogaine (a batch of 10 ml prepared each time).

I also received an email from Lipogaine saying everything is alright, dark yellow tint is usual for minoxidil getting older or being exposed to air during production. They also confirmed that minoxidilmax is their authorised reseller.

And yes, try hair oils during shower or anytime, I am sure they will help a lot :)

So just to update you If you're still on here or anyone having the same issue. Basically my scalp health started to decrease because there is a ton of alcohol in lipogaine in order to dissolve all the crap they put in it. I was using a lot of it at once so basically my hair had a sort of bad response to it eventually and now I still can't use it. I was using it for over two years like I said also was putting about 2ml in my hair per night which is definitely too much. Should probably only be about 1ml and just make sure you get a nice layer in your thinning areas from what I've heard. anyone I switched to using regular rogaine and putting some azelaic acid in it. I've been having a weird response to increasing my oral finesteride like I'm roid raging the day after I take it. I've read a lot of people have had this issue and it causes increase shed which could be due to the body increasing it test receptor count as well as increase free T in the body. I think I'm just going to add my fine to my rogaine as well possibly even ketoconazole and hope that that is enough and maybe only take .25 mg of fine orally to hopefully not have such an adverse effect. anyway I believe my hair is stableish now. I just wanted to let you know incase your hair starts responding the same way mine did.

Sad to hear lipogaine sorta did not work for you :/. As long as Rogaine works for your and your hair is not as dry then stick with it.

I take around 1mg of finasteride daily + dissolve 1/2 a 5mg tab in 10 ml of Lipogaine. Hair looks good these days, but I have to stop using minoxidil from 5th this month as I have a hair transplant at Asmed on 6th September and will not be able to use any minoxidil 1 - 1.5 months after the surgery..
That is some scary sh*t :D :D :D

Haha wow that's crazy. Good Luck with the Transplant! Hopefully everything works out well for you. I was thinking about trying PRP as my expensive up front alternative and I will probably end up giving it a shot pretty soon but we shall see.
