Age - 22.
I noticed that I was losing hair in Dec 2005 when I had my hair cut and the barber's mirror showed a thin area of about 2cm diameter at my crown. My temples are also receding and I had noticed that much area at about the age of 18. In general, though, the entire top of my head has thinner hair than the sides and, when wet, you can see where it is I shall probably be bald in the future if it goes untreated.
As you can see I increased my regimen quite considerably at the beginning of this year. Something is now working. On the crown area, there has been a significant amount of regrowth when viewed from above. The area still looks thin but where there was once a small bald patch there now is new hair growing (and it feels so great to feel up there and feel hair rather than skin!).
I suspect that what is working is the Minodoxil. I tried Finpecia alone for about 11 months or so and I think it had some very mild success but I'm doubtful as it was difficult to tell. Anyhow, it was certainly nothing significant. I'm now taking Dutas as well but again, although early days, I'm sceptical largely because I've never really experienced any side effects, or at least none that have been perceived. I shall probably replace it with the real deal when the current supply runs out, although I'd be interested to hear of any success people have had with these two generic drugs.
What really gets me down now is my temples, which still seem to be receding at a reasonably quick rate (although the front is still pretty strong, so I have a peak appearing more noticeably). I had, originally, tried minodoxil on these areas since July 2007 (i.e. before I started using it on my crown) but, apart from allowing a few odd hairs to grow quite strongly it doesn't seem to stop the hairline from retreating.
The ridiculous thing is that the left temple seems to have eaten further back than my right...that makes styling quite awkward!
I'd be really interested to know if anyone can suggest a treatment that they have found has worked on their temples.
I'm sorry I don't have any pictures, but I hope I've described the situation as accurately as possible.
